I’m glad I was wrong about the condition that I thought Luann would find Tiffany in. She is not anywhere near as depressed as I’d thought she might be. And there are no more empty pizza delivery boxes lying around, so maybe Tiffany is already starting to change her behavior.
Same thing happened to me years ago while I was taping a Be Right Back note to my office door! Didn’t land on my face but boy was I glad no one was around to see it.
Tiff has not lost even one ounce. At least her expression in the last frame appears to reflect amusement. I still hope that Luann & Tiff will become friends.
So, have we solved who opened the door? Door already ajar and Luann leaned on it and face-planted? Or Tiffany opened it so quickly Luann face-planted? Well, considering the end result were the same in both scenarios, I can see why it’s quite difficult to which was which. Perhaps we need a scientific approach and do some angles and velocity…or something like that.
Luann is in with no anger and has not yet started in on asking Tiffany to go out on exhibition.
So if they talk, really talk, Greg gets his vacation as they reminisce and apologize back and forth over everything mean, nasty, or just plain stupid that they have done to each other over the years.
Okay I take the criticism Tiffany had opened the door unexpectedly. Actually the best thing is that Tiffany looks fine, other than being a few sizes larger than usual, and still in her sweats. They are both seeing the humor of the situation, and I hope good things with how the card shows that the kids, whom TIffany so seems to dislike, can care about her; kids can be good assessors of the good in people. The other possibility, following the arc, which one does at their peril, is the lingerie party. Will Tiffany go? I still think a lot of the arcs over the last few months are going to come together, before the end of the year is my guess, but on this strip, my guess is usually as reliable as my predictions of the Chicago Bears in a fairly good year, they still lose if I bet on them (lol).
I like that Tiffany appears in better emotional shape at the moment. She is able to bring humor to the situation, which would be difficult to do if she was in worse emotional shape.
I also think the “cleaner” dorm room is perhaps a sign that Tiffany is figuring out how to handle her less than pleasant emotional feelings at the moment and may be on a way to heal herself.
It will be interesting to see how she reacts to the offer to go to the “Lingerie Party”. Will she be confident enough to go, or will her feelings about her different than before body image impede her from attending?
That is not to say that Les may try to impede her as well…. since she will not be “on the list” so to speak.
@LUANN1212: I didn’t understand your earlier comment about Luann being ‘chastened’. Why did she need to be physically hurt; what was she doing that was bad? She was taking a card to Tiffany that was put together by the kids at Kids First to cheer Tiffany up; was that the bad thing? Or leaning on a door to write a note; that was bad? The note was an invitation to a party that I, among others, thought of as an inadvisable event for someone having problems with body issues, but Luann was not the person who thought of inviting Tiffany. That was Bernice, so if someone deserved to fall on their face as punishment, shouldn’t it have been Bernice, not Luann? Please explain…
The heavier Tiffany reminds me of a middle aged or “matronly” woman, rather than a slim college aged young lady. Maybe we’re getting a peek into her future?
1) It would be wonderful if Tiffany were to be in a better frame of mind where she is accepting of her current body image. Being heavier than before is a pretty damn common issue for many folks.
2) Being emotionally accepting of her new body image does not mean that Tiffany cannot adopt new behaviors that may allow her to return to her physical body image of before…. at least over time. One way that Greg may choose to show Tiffany is accepting of her current body image would be for Tiffany to eagerly accept going to the “Lingerie Party”.
3) If Tiffany is still very emotionally upset about her father, I am hoping that she will discuss this with Luann, and that Luann responds kindly and in a true manner of friendship and tries to offer helpful suggestions.
Okay, guys, we are once again in the jaws of political correctness. If we like the sexy Tiff, we have made her a mere object. If we pretend to like the chubby Tiff, we are lying to ourselves. The Dogs of C-Kennel do not need any more residents.
Tiffany is going to have to stop reacting ‘full time’ to her Dad’s personal life and move forward with her own life. As a full time student on campus she can’t take all her classes online. Hopefully this week (and next) some progress will be made; i.e. Tiff starts interacting with more people and a path towards a healthier existence is created.

It’s nice that they can both see the humor in the situation. It shows that they’re growing up.

Well, it’s settled. Tiffany did unlock and yank the door open, causing Luann to fall in.
Doors can be left unlocked and not fully closed and latched. But that is not what happened.
Most of us knew what was happening, because we could clearly see what the Evanses were intending to portray.
And to paraphrase some of yesterday’s stuffy detractors: “Is that concept lost on anyone?”

But I can feel confident to be able to diagnose this one thing.
