Right away I notice a complete difference in attitude with Gunther about these gatherings and Mr. Gray in general. We may be getting close to proposal time, using the last wedding anniversary as a lead in.
Gunther is busily readying a plate of chocolates for Les and Mr. Gray. Not Hershey’s. Not Ghiradelli. Not Cadbury. It’s good ’ol Ex – Lax. That crazy Gunther. He really gets ’em going…
We’re heading towards another feel-good arc endpoint, but even while they are all smiling and singing Christmas Carols arm-in-arm, Les will still manage to find a way to pocket some of the family silver.
Well this is an interesting development. All I can say is lets see where it goes. They look so much alike Mom and Son. One thing though is that Gunther has those really thick eyebrows. Shades of his father? Never mention him at all, or very much. Anyway, in light of the Tiffany arc, and the Ann arc, lets see where this arc ends up. I have no clue, so I am just along for the ride.
After a period of time, we learned that Mr. Gray’s first name was Al. I wonder if we will eventually learn Mrs. Berger’s? Best guess: Gertrude or Irmgard.
I suppose I could get used to Gunther’s wearing solid gray rather than a graph-paper shirt, but… rolling his sleeves up to his elbows when he makes lunch? Is the boy becoming one of those dirty bum college students? That’s even less believable than a Tiffany who lets herself go.
1. Presuming the dinner this week is shown, will Tiffany show or will she feel uncomfortable and try to beg off?
2. Presuming Tiffany does attend this dinner event, will this be the first time Les has seen her since she has been eating more due to her emotional struggles? If so, will we get a “good” Les who is respectful and kind towards Tiffany or will be a “bad” Les who gawks and then is rude and/or ignores Tiffany?
3. Will Quill show up (indicating he is still living in the Berger household) or will he not be around and we will be unsure of his status (For me, I hope he does not show, and is simply gone from the comic.)?
4. Will there be any mention of the “Lingerie Parties” scene within the scope of the dinner?
5. Gunther’s peach fuzz “scruff” is becoming more narrow (I have noticed this the last few times he has been portrayed.) This is suggesting he may be purposefully making it more narrow as do some kids with the “scruff” style. With big, bushier beards currently being quite in style with the college crowd, I still think Gunther should go that route for a while.
There are two ways this week’s strip could be made interesting: If Les were to reach under the table and put his hands on Gunther’s thigh…. Or if after everyone calls it a night, Gunther wakes up in the morning to find Mr. Grey has stayed for breakfast…..
Ms. B must be mistaken. She is probably confusing the Charades with the moment Mr. Gray offered to do his impression of Optimus Prime. Upon his utterance of “Transform and…”, he attempted the “…roll out!” part…but he could only “roll around”.
-
….still though, Ms. B must’ve been stunned in amazement…in between her fits of outbursting laughter….
He’s still “Mr Gray”? Seriously GunthMom, you can cut the faux-formality and call him by his first name. Your son isn’t 6 years old. Anyway, the visual she’s describing becomes a lot funnier when you imagine Mr Gray doing all these charades in his business suit with the same neutral expression on his face that he always has.
I think the conversation will soon move to Tiffany. Gunther’s been doing a good job with her. I’m still hoping that Mrs. Berger will play a role and be a bit of the Mom that Tiffany never had.

JEEZE! First a Week of Old Smiley now Les.
I do Believe Greg and Karen are determined that SOME of “US” are going to be Good and Mad for the Holidays.
But, I’m NOT gonna be One of “Them.” NOPE.
In fact, I’ll Say Right Here, Right Now, that I Hope “Leslie” one day finds True Love! In Prison…..,
PS: Gunther? Be sure to Invite Les’ Mom, Ann Eiffel to the Next Berger Family Dinner. It would be a real Treat Watching Him Squirm for a Week……,

Pipe and coffee commentary for today:

Coffee and pipe are finished. Back to grading.
