mrs. angelini: hey, there, missy..what do you say to a nice big platter of pasta? heart: Yeah, sounds great! I'll get four cans of "Spaghettios with franks" from the cabinet! They heat up in the microwave in a snap! Mrs. angelini: There are so many things wrong with those sentences I don't even know where to begin. heart: Are the cans in the pantry?

Would Ms. Angelini be appalled by Ettore Boiardi’s canned pasta? “SpaghettiOs” are more of some to be made by Joseph Campbell’s canned soup.

Ms. Angelini is going to teach Heart to make pasta from scratch, isn’t she?

Mrs. Angelini would get along well with my friend Keith (also full-blooded Italian). Whenever he used to see the old Olive Garden commercial with the voice-over where the guy’s uncle is visiting from the Old Country, “so I took him to Olive Garden.” At which point Keith would intone, “… and then he beat me to within an inch of my life.”

For today’s bonus comic, I’m seeing the Christmas one from 12/25/2008. If they put that one in full color on a Christmas card, I’d buy a couple boxes to send to my friends and family.

Glad my mom taught me to cook German and my grandma Italian….as my husband is Italian too, and also Irish so lots of good eats in our house and all made from scratch. We make up our own pasta dinners and freeze them as the stuff in the frozen isle can’t complete. Same goes for our lasagna, manicotti, and our own pizza!
