I was just thinking the same thing: they flopped before. And I can assure you that Tiff is not in the mood for star trek. As for her dad, “resistance to Anne Eiffel may be futile.” Unfortunately.
I can’t decide whether I’m proud for Bernice that she’s bringing Star Trek rather than pamphlets, or sad for her because she apparently believes (realizes?) that her presence alone isn’t worth much.
I never thought I’d see the day that Luann would show ANY concern for Tiffany.
Heck, Lu even feels “sorry” for Les.
These young ladies have really grown. Tiffany may lose her dad for a little while, but she’s gained lifelong friends. And THAT, IMHO, says something…..,
Somehow, it seems very anticlimactic for them all to end up watching Star Trek instead of going to the DeGroots’s house to warn them about Ann’s activities and urge them to call in the police…
Same people, same actions but I don’t think we will have the same results. All of them have changed. Since the initial foray to Tiff’s room the girls have actually become friends. They choose to spend time together. Tiff isn’t a feel good project to them anymore. That will make the all difference.
Before you do that, though, ladies, perhaps get some money for pizza! Just stop past the ATM Machine….and don’t forget, Bern, you changed your PIN Number!
I guess they forgot that Tiffany already had a chance to talk to them today and made a deliberate effort to avoid doing so. It would be funny if, in their ill-thought-out attempt to go see her, they go to her room and catch her and Les in flagrante delicto. That kind of thing would never happen in this strip, of course, but it’d still be hilarious to see these overgrown children realize that some college-age women sometimes need a different type of comforting once in a while.
Ooooooookaaaaaayyy. First thought I had was that today’s strip is a setup for tomorrow’s cliffhanger…. who (if anyone) is with TIff when the ladies arrive at Tiff’s door? Is it Les? Is it Gunther? Is it someone else or no one at all? Given the strips we had last week with Les and Tiff, and the secret passing of $$$ with a note (instead of visiting the room), I’m thinking (and it’s giving me agita) is that it will be Les. I truly hope I’m wrong, but…. Now, whether or not they’re doing anything “cringeworthy” is to be seen, but I hope not.
Boy Luann and Bernice are so mean and vicious! No empathy at all. I just had to mention that given some opinions (lol). It’s Friday so the arc cannot suddenly be resolved this week, at least I don’t think so. Tiffany may tell them, all good, and things have happened beneficially for her off comic, so to speak. Or she could be in the room with Les!! Or she could be depressed, so deja vue all over again as BrdShtt said above. I bet it will be something none of us, or very few of us will even think of; but I stick to my opinion that convergence is the overall goal of this arc in the long run (that can take months).
Even though Luann is a cartoon strip, it highlights a problem of bringing someone destructive into a family circle. Ann Eiffel is a liar and a con woman. She is greedy and is liable to cheat and lie to destroy others, as she has no conscience. The website howtobeyourowndetective.com has a page devoted to how you can do your own prenuptial investigations. Parents and siblings, if you have a kid or a sib about to bring some venomous person into your family circle, you need to read this. And you young single women and men check it out too.
These young people don’t seem quite like most in that their cell phone isn’t glued to their hand. If they were typical, they would have used social media (FB, Twitter) to ‘share the news’ from the moment Ann left the Fuze. Then the next two months of strips would have been done in a day or two. But then you all wouldn’t have anything to analyze:)
Well. The set up is for something dramatic to happen at the door opening with three witnesses. As with Bernice and the weight gain arc, we will see the shocked reaction of the three but NOT the cause ‘til next week. I think a “Wake Up Little Suzy” strip has been done already by TG with Tiff and Gunther. But the surprise was on the readers and there were no Luannverse witnesses. A “no doubt about it” moment would be too traumatic for the three characters outside the door, whoever would be in there. Probably for the readers also.
Maybe Tiff’s dad will be in there for a reconciliation – how about THAT for a shocker!?!?
So the question for next week is: "Will Team Greg come up with something new or one of the banal “Tiff with Les or Gunther” arcs already anticipated by commenters?? (I don’t think they’re that clever, myself.)

If anyone young man is in there with Tiff and it’s not Gunther, then except for Bwad, the trope “good guys never win” will have been reinforced once again.
If Tiffany is sinking back into depression because of her father’s rejection, she is not likely to be interested in (or have the energy for) romance. My hope is that when the three show up with movie and tea, they don’t find Tiffany consuming boxes of pizza and wearing giant sweat pants…
I think they should replace the Star Trek DVD with ideas of what Tiffany can do to overcome this, and then it’s good. She doesn’t need movies/shows right now. Tea and friends are good, and talking is good. And support is good. To me, watching Star Trek is just shrugging your shoulders and accepting what happened, and moving on…instead of trying to fix the problem further. And it needs to be fixed.
It’s good that they’re taking another attempt at checking on Tiffany. Let’s hope they have better luck this time…
Meanwhile, the next arc should have Les telling his uncle what happened, and they can set up a meeting with Luann’s parents and Prudence about Ann Eiffel and her latest scam. Who knows? Perhaps they can talk some sense to Tiffany’s father.
Tiffany did wrong in the past, but she has matured since then. I am proud of the way she shut down Eiffel’s scam. Now, she needs all the friends and allies she can get in order to save her father.
I’m not convinced that any of these folks (however well intentioned) can solve Tiffany’s real problem, which is her relationship with her father. She wants one; he seems more interested in sending money than in spending time. After she talks about it, who can help her? Which of the would be helpers has a solution for that?
…………………..
Gunther, who is still struggling with his own very mixed feelings about his own mother (alternately resenting her for ‘smothering’ him or getting angry when she gets involved with a man in her own age group)? Les, who obviously has a rotten relationship with his mother (who is kinda rotten…)?
……..
We probably don’t know enough about Bernice and Des’s relationships with their parental units to know if they could offer suggestions. I still come back to the idea of reporting and documenting Ann’s fake lingerie sale to the DeGroots (and only Tiffany can prove that the stuff was fake), so they can go to the police with details. And when the cops are able to take action, Tom Farrell sees that his daughter was the one telling the truth…
There is always going over to thank Tiffany for what she got returned to them. Then you ask if you can do anything for her. But that can’t be stretched into a week, right?
It would be better, I think, if it was just Dez. Tiffany wouldn’t reject her since she lent Tiff some clothes to wear, and Dez is someone who comes with no baggage or history. They could be on the same page.
“resistance to Anne Eiffel may be futile.” – but there is strength in numbers. Ann may be as strong as a Borg Cube, and with the same attitude, but if the rest of the Luaniverse gangs up on her, it will be like The Battle of Sector 001 against the Borg at Earth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPzJSBHG4pI.
I’m going to guess Tiff will be out, probably visiting her counselor, who will be now desperately trying to convince her to stay in college if he knows where his cash is coming from. I can’t really blame Tiff for being wary of the crew showing up. A real friend would have checked on her earlier before assembling a posse, especially as Luann does have a history of gloating over Tiff’s failures. I may seem to Tiff like the girls are more there to schadenfreude about the drama/s*itshow that is her life right now then to help. For her sake, I hope they open the door and she’s packing. Getting away from the drama history all the way around would do her some good.
How to keep going for another two or three months of strips…..
It is still late at night and Luann was crazy enough to come right over.
Les has been (AWAKE and CLOTHED) all night with Tiffany. They came back to the dorm only to slip the money under the door and get Tiffany into a fresh outfit.
Simone called and told Tiff to photograph everything.
So back to the Fuse, which Les opens up.
And as they start to photograph the box barcode, they hear the sound of smashed glass.
Followed by a couple of Molotov Cocktails made from wine bottles available at the Fuse, each topped by a burning piece of Soufle lingerie.

Hmm. In many ways this is again a “segue” sort of day today. What will transpire (and my indication of how likely I believe the idea is)?
1) Will Les be with Tiffany? 8/10
2) Will Les and Tiffany be “romantic” (or appear to be in some way)? 4/10
3) Will Gunther be with Tiffany? 2/10
4) Will Tiffany NOT be in her room or not answer the door? 5/10
5) Will Tiffany be alone, answer the door and be despondent? 7/10
6) Will Tiffany be alone, answer the door and be back in sweats? 6/10
7) Will Tiffany be talking on the phone with Simone (“Ms. Souffle”)? 5/10
8) Will Tiffany have tried to harm herself? 1/10 (I sure hope not.)
9) Will Tiffany pretend her father “doesn’t matter” and just move on? 3/10
10) Will Tiffany join Lu/Bern/Dez and start another plan to get Ann? 5/10
