The first Spring was no picnic either. The lunar rover made a lousy plow.

How are we expected to not make fun where a banjo is involved?

Moon-billies?

I wonder how a trio with banjo, accordian and bagpipe would sound?

But with help from the indigenous moon people they survived that first winter.

They should have located the colony closer to the moon’s equator, where it is warmer.

Looks like the “fossil fuel” industry found coal, oil, and natural gas on the Moon. Who knew?!

I’m undecided on whether the last line makes or breaks the comic.

Gee, nobody mentioned ‘the ’wood’ from their ship’. I think there would have been a fire in the sky before they ever got there…………..(was that making fun?)

Seeing the wood hut in this cartoon reminds me of something I heard about in the Antarctic when I was there. The British used to have a scientific research station on the Antarctic Peninsula, which had a system of docks for supply ships. Some of the docks were badly in need of repair so they ordered a large shipment of lumber for repairs. After the lumber arrived the contractors made at least the minimum amount of repairs but had a large quantity of lumber left over. It was decided that they would use the extra lumber to build an extension to the main building and fashion it as a pub. It’s not too surprising since most research stations have recreational facilities, including a place for food and drinks, etc. So the pub was built, complete with wood paneled walls, a dart board and a couple “beer engines” for pouring the draft beer they brewed there. Visitors were always shown the pub and offered a beer.

Eventually, the British station completed their scientific work and sold the station to Ukraine. It is now the Vernadsky Research Base, and I am told the beer taps now serve vodka, also made there. Who knows what might get accomplished on the moon?

But that’s what the comics are here for — to make fun.
