This is grotesque for a Ziggy cartoon.
I guess some hostile people will enjoy seeing the mouse DEAD but, dead animals and Ziggy don’t go together very well.
Maybe next it will be Josh on a stick? or ground Fuzz in a can? I think the pet duck has already been roasted.
Lately I have been having a lot of trouble with mice coming into my house and leaving their droppings in places that I’m not happy about. I wish I had a cat around to take care of that, but please not in my toaster!
“Since the mice in Ziggy are generally portrayed as anthropomorphic wisecrackers, the sight of one dead and dangling limply from a cat’s grinning mouth is fairly startling. What could make this worse? Oh, right, the thought of the stench of searing mouse flesh, the hint of which will always linger on the coils of the toaster’s heating elements! Yes, that will do nicely.”
Dr. Moses.
It is key that you locate where the mice are able to enter your house. Outside soffit often have bent back spots where they climb into your attic space, and scatter from there. Other popular entries are beneith sinks where there are often gaps around the bases of the pipes going out. Stoves too. Steel wool + Spray foam insulation works great for those gaps. Otherwise, holes in the corners of floor (where linoleum usually peels up) are the other popular spots, as well as gaps under doors.
If you find and seal all the holes, set some (old fashioned style) mouse traps with peanut butter inside, you will soon be mouse free and,… they will have no place for re-entry. “please” no glue traps as they are terribly cruel.
The colder it get’s outside, the more desperate they are to find a way in. Just block all entries, and your home will be yours again. Good luck to you.
Personally, when I first saw this, I thought “GOOD JOB CAT!!!”. After all those mice put him through and how they were taking over the place, I just had to smile when I saw the cat had actually caught one.
Thanks Relevart for all the great information. I have done everything that you have mention above to try and keep them out. I believe they are coming into a location that I cannot get to. Which is a sunroom that was built on a deck attached to my house. They are coming in from underneath the deck right into my kitchen cabinet by the sink and stove. I found one in the broiler part of my oven cooked! Yikes!! I feel sorry for them I know they are trying to get warm. And my dogs tell me when they are there. They sit and stare at the cabinets and scratch at the stove. A few winters back I had a stray cat that lived under my deck and I was mice free. I miss that cat!
Bless your heart Dr. Moses. Keep up the good work. You’ll get there.
Sounds like someone needs to get underneith your deck with a can of foam &/or some patches of plywood. There must be a gap somewhere around it’s connection to your home. You might empty those cabinets and find that hole. Remember that the little buggers can squeeze through a hole the size of a dime and it’s probably in a back corner.
Good luck friend.

Peace on Earth. Goodwill toward ALL, anyway.

Our newest little Tom boy prefers birds. Little finches that my wife loves, at that. And bacon. so toasted ones might tickle him.
Still, I understand Relevart. This seesm to be a day for the gross on the toons. Try Lio.

Calling this gross seems a very anthrocentric viewpoint. The cat doesn’t think it is gross at all!

I had a cat that was forever bringing home snakes, lizards, mice, birds, bugs and whatever; and leaving the mess for ME to clean up. Yuck!

You should be thankful - your little kitty is bringing YOU stuff! It;s not HIS fault you’re not a cat!

Maybe I’m being to literal here..but.. when I read Ziggy’s statement I asked myself..
Why would a cat want to “do” a mouse?….. It’s physically impossible..

He got the mouse from the computer when Ziggy wasn’t looking.
