Heh. Security has showed up. And “Barney Fife” brought “trouble” with him.
But somehow I get the impression that Tara may come to the rescue here and get our Hapless “hero and heroine” off the hook. Which would be cool, in My book. Once again “Street Smarts” to the rescue.
One observation though: Luann is really JAZZED about being at a Monster Truck show. I mean THAT is all it took. No five course dinner. No “dessert.” Just a couple of tickets to an ear drum blasting, gear grinding “truck show.”
Kinda makes any guy that tries to impress a young lady with flowers and dinners at expensive restaurant look like a CHUMP…….,
I bet Tara talks them out of trouble, just in time, but what is so clear to me is how much a nice couple they make. Jack likes fun, as does Luann and he is as guilelessly clueless as she is; perfect! He would pay attention to Luann too. Just sayin.
and they said: OH OH! and Tara either knows the guy or he’s her brother. or she does something typically Tara and saves the day. come back on Monday. Sunday: hey puddles! (yawn)
There was a school bus demolition type character in Cars 3, but there is a Monster Truck, Higher Education, ithat is also making the rounds (including Monster Jam tours) and also has its own Hot Wheels and assorted toy incarnations!
I’m afraid all this ‘Tara saves the day’ is gonna be a lot of wishful thinking (unfortunately). More like She returns after Barney Fife throws out Luann and Jack. Then sees them both on Monday, and asks why they left.Speaking of security, why do they only show up at moments like this? There could be pickpockets, scalpers, and even open brawls, and nothing. But move to a closer seat? Better watch out.
This guy must be a proud graduate from the Barney Facilitated Instructionary Facility for Educary type Deductions and Techniques. Some people call it FIFE De-Tech, for short.
But of course…I predicted this earlier this week. Hope they dump Tara. Hope Luann will tell Jack about Tara getting expelled at Moony for theft and her stunt at this rally shows her character and that they don’t need a friend like that, that if they continue to hang out with her, they’d always get into trouble. And maybe, Luann, introduce Tara to TJ. They’re two of a kind and Tara might learn the art of quick thinking and evading which TJ is a master of to keep out of trouble. (I know some of you like Tara but I am not one of them. She is just trouble with capital T)
Okay, let’s get REAL here for a moment. I’ll admit I don’t go to arenas that much anymore except for College basketball games, but in the case of someone sitting in the “wrong seat,” an USHER is usually charged with the task of kindly directing the person to his or her proper seat, not some “hired flashlight” like “Barney” here. In fact, the USHER usually meets you as you enter the arena and helpfully directs you to your seat.
So “WHY” is “The Rent-A-Cop” here going all “law and order” particularly in a Venue where most of the seats in the arena appear to be empty and the REAL VIPS are not claiming the VIP seats?? “Barney’s” job is to keep the peace and quell any minor disturbance by calling the REAL Cops if things get out of hand.
Checking for Tickets and proper seating is the “JOB” of the USHERS. And even “They” leave you alone most of the time, if the REAL Ticket Holders are not Claiming those seats.
“Barney” is way out of line here and greatly overstepping his imagined authority, I think. It’s a Good thing it’s Jack and not somebody like say, the OLD Dirk. The Old Dirk would make “Barney” EAT his Badge.
My first date with my now wife of 50 yrs. was at the local figure eight races and when the cars barely missed in the intersection she jumped up and, in front of God and everybody, shouted "Oh S**t! :o}
Ooops! Though I doubt they’ll get thrown out, he’ll just sternly warn them to go back to the seats they paid for and not crash the VIP section again. It’s a monster truck rally, not a high security social function. People probably move into empty seats all the time and have to be booted.
I’m rather doubtful that Security just goes around to all the VIP sections asking everyone for tickets, this would be considered extremely rude behavior and get a lot of complaints. The only time sitting in the wrong seat is a problem is if the assigned seat holder shows up.
I can only assume the stadium didn’t sell a single VIP ticket. Otherwise this guy wouldn’t be justified in checking the tickets of folks who are already seated.
capricorn9th——-Ok, just last week or so, didn’t Gunther try to “warn” Tiff about Les? And didn’t most of the posters here say he was completely out of line and rip him apart? Now you at least, are suggesting Luann do the same thing; she must “warn” poor Jack about evil Tara! Neither of them should ever associate with Tara again!
Did Tara slip away? Looks like she left these two to pay the piper (see the pun? Barney FIFE)…I’ll get they get into trouble and not Tara who is either in the Ladies Room or saw trouble coming.
I’m thinking that Tara might be sneaking down onto one of those trucks to catch a ride. For her (I’m guessing) just watching is not enough. At least she was smart enough to get up and leave before the ticket man came. As for Luann enjoying a 5 ton truck leaping over a burning car and smashing it… well go figure.
I don’t exactly trust the hyper-active, slightly criminal Tara. She might try to seduce Lt. Fuzz, just for the heck of it. And, she probably doesn’t really care if Jack leaves a stubble burn on Luann’s chest, but she’s got something in mind other than snacks.
The highlights of Luann’s adventurous life will now be getting kicked out of a New York night club within 5 minutes and getting kicked out of a monster truck rally in about the same length of time. She gets all the excitement of doing things without actually having to do them!
Gotta admit that I like the “I SAID …” in the last panel. Deftly indicates that the guard has been standing there demanding their tickets, and they’re ignoring him. (I know … ‘cause they can’t hear.) He’s gotten impatient and may soon start throwing his weight around (figurative, of course, because he doesn’t have much literal weight).

It will be interesting to see how GnK has Tara playing this out. Possible scenarios:
She comes back to empty seats, watches the show, eats all the snacks herself.
She comes back meets a VIP, watches the show with him, gets his autograph, shows Jack and Luann waiting outside.
She comes back and (somehow) rescues the day, they get to stay.
She comes back and (somehow) gets them all thrown out.
She doesn’t come back.
