And surely the giant cat bed has enough space for all three boys. Unless, of course, they do like Blossom does and hog all the bed space. Story of my life. :D
Yesterday rroxxana, fuzzybritches and others were responding to a comment I made about the swimming cats. I was unable to post links last night, but here is the reference for those who didn’t recognize it:
Folks, I am not a social media type. No FB, not text, no twitts, etc. Fortunately Lisa does have the addiction, so it works for us today. She put together a montage and posted it on the “public” section of her page.
This chair could hold all the cats from both floors, plus Burt, Sophie and whats-his-name. Plus the robber mice! They would be so warm they would never emerge!
And another new word learned from a comic strip. I’ve seen chairs like that, but never thought about what they might be called. It definitely looks feline friendly.
Only problem with a Papasan is that some varieties are carnivorous and will trap and slowly swallow any living creature that dwells too long in its cushiony embrace.
Good morning and happy Bunday! I don’t know if they make papasans sturdier now, but when I was younger (and lighter), the legs were fairly fragile and the chairs had a distressing tendency to collapse under one’s weight.
I think we once tried one for a vacation, but it kept falling off its frame and got us all hurt. In the end, we used it as storage for our stuffies. Another option is an enormous beanbag. We used to have one, and we pushed it around until it was a perfect loaf then jump off the couch into it. Unfortunately, we had to get rid of it before we had any fur-children.
I had a cat named Sophie, and I had a papasan chair. I don’t recall how we learned this, but I could take the chair off its stand and spin it like a top. Really fast. Sophie would run and hurl herself into it, like a cat merry go round.
I am hoping for ( and in need of) your best hopes, purrs, and wishes. A few days before Christmas I visited my doctor for what I figured was a minor issue ( a little bloating, some tenderness in my abdomen, a suddenly smaller bladder- no big deal, right ?). This had been going on for, oh, 18 days. Two hours, a blood test, and a cat scan ( not the good, feline kind) later I walked out with a diagnosis of an abdominal mass the size of an eggplant and a surgery date of January 10. Tomorrow I meet my surgeon, and on January 10 they will try to determine if this ovarian mass is cancer or not.
This is the nightmare scenario for me- I am terrified, absolutely terrified of needles, including IVs ( had my first in 56 years that day and almost could not do it) .
I am shamelessly requesting any available best wishes and good thoughts December 31 and January 10 :)
Yup. One papa, two labs and three cats can fit on mine. Anything else and papa has to leave. But right now I have two cats at the keyboard and two labs on the girls’ beds (poor dears are going to be so sad when the girls go back to school next week) The other animals are somewhere around the house. Probably still sleeping.
I ask for people’s good wishes and thoughts. One of the family by the name of Sandy is missing. He is a very good boy and he has never been gone before like this. Both he and his mother are indoor cats. I have walked around the neighbor several times and checked animal control. I am sure he is ok but any prayers would help.
My niece tripped over her folding papasan and made a loud noise, traveling throughout the house. My parents came to inspect what had happened and I said that “she tripped over her papasan”. They both looked at me like I was crazy and my mother said: “What?? Her chair you mean?” They gave me angry looks afterwords. I am not sure why, I felt bad for using correct terminology.
There was a time that you could get a Papasan chair that was 6 or even 8 feet in diameter. Today, Papasan chairs are limited to 3’10" in diameter. Why? Because they are shipped over to the US from China in a standard shipping container, and 3’10" fits into a 4 foot box along with a couple inches of padding, and exactly two chairs can fit side by side in an 8 foot wide shipping container. I long to find an 8 foot Papasan chair!
This is exactly the kind of request that I save my very ‘best wishes’ and super-positive ‘good thoughts’ for! I’m not usually big on the gushing emotional stuff, but I’m hoping that all this positivity has helped you feel like you are not alone during this scary time xxxx keep us updated on your journey, and know that we all care xxxx

You know a papasan is amazing when even Elvis is impressed.

But … what was the reason someone gave it away at the Man’s office? This isn’t going to turn into the VW Golf – Da Da Da commercial, is it?

Elvis – intrepid climber who scales the papasan using the backside route. Luckily he has built in crampons to accomplish this.

Papasans are given away when the owners finally become old enough that they can’t get out of it without help. This is a closely guarded secret.

When you get one you try very hard to believe it is comfortable, but in the end, it isn’t. Perfect for cats, dogs and all things Puck described.

So true about papasans!
One definition of a papasan is: An incredibly comfortable, giant textile pac-man corpse which can be used as furniture.
