What’s your point here Snoopy? You’re being cryptic in your writing!

I’ve done “stints” as a technical writer between gigs in IT and management. Don’t ask, it’s a wired career. I fancy myself to be a good writer. When working in my tech writing positions, I got to work with editors who tore my work apart. It was a good experience and my writing improved because of it.

One of the hallmarks of good technical writing is that it is “lean and mean;” the objective is to get as much information across in as few words as possible.

It’s been a long time since I’ve cashed a paycheck based on my writing and I find that my writing today has gotten “flabby.” So I can identify with the old Snoop, in today’s strip.

Snoopy’s technique of extension writing reminds me of some of my term papers in seminary. Just take a single thought and stretch it out every-which-way to make a paragraph. I see this technique in authoritative papers on archeology by people with phds and by writers of comments and replies below these toons. I guess we can say Snoopy is in good company.

Snoopy’s writing is caught in a “do loop” like programming code.

Snoopy’s words of whiz-dumb make me homesick for “The Great Catcher” and “The Gatsby in the Rye” (see today’s Pearls Before Swine"!

Yep, it’s going to need some editing. That’s what it’s going to need all right, some editing. Maybe more than a little editing, but at least some editing.

That was INCREDIBLE. I don’t usually expect too much in the way of comedy from “Peanuts,” but wow.
