You don’t know what you do there because you let Luann do all the work, Tiffany. You just sit prettily and toss around orders while running monologues. That does not work. You have not yet learned what work or a job means. Luann is not doing you any favor letting you get away with putting your half of work. Bernice ought to talk with Luann about that.
First: Congrats to those who predicted that Tiffany would ask for a raise at her job at Kids 1st.
Second: Unfortunately, today’s Strip is only going to add more fuel to the fire for those that maintain that Tiffany (and certain other characters) are regressing badly, at an Alarming rate. If memory serves, Tiffany didn’t work well with the kids, so she was put in the front office years ago. And today she admits she’s been “doing nothing?” THAT, begs the question of HOW and WHY is this young woman still gamefully employed? And I honestly don’t think I’d want to know the answer to that.
Tiffany may be getting a hardcore reality check in the not too distant future, and what Ann has been doing to her lately, is just the tip of the iceberg. Whether Tiffany is crazy enough to ask for a raise or not, she’s likely to e the first to go if Kidz 1st has to endure budget cuts. In fact I’m truly amazed that they kept her job for her when she was out “sick” back in 2017.
Tiffany would do well to keep her mouth shut when it comes to asking for a raise at her current ’job." And instead, she should see if the local theater needs actresses for the upcoming “Rent” or “Quibbling Siblings.”
The main reason Tiff is there is she serves as eye candy for principal Big Chin. I am not sure how much is in the candy fund if she requests a pay increase.
When I was a freshman in college, I learned that there was a right way to ask for a raise and a wrong way to ask for a raise. Fortunately, I “lucked” into the right answer (thank you HS Econ). What are the odds that Tiffany will ask the right way?
She will likely be met with, “Actually, Tiffany, I’ve been talking to the board and they’re considering eliminating your position to save us money. I can staple my own copies.”
Why doesn’t she go work at a cosmetics store or something? She’d be much better at it. She hates kids.
I was hoping she would be more creative and call her friend Simone in Paris for ideas like modeling or selling Soufflé products in the US. That would be an ironic twist to this arc.
She indeed needs a reality check, only not from Anne Awful. But she’s getting it anyway, so it looks like the time for Paris (Tiff) to grow up has come. Time for her to leave the celebutard in her behind. Looks tough so far.
A short time ago, Tiffany was clever and resourceful enough to stop Ann Eiffel’s lingerie scam and get everyone’s money back. Now, she’s thick as a plank? Ugh.
Greg & Karen are really milking this Tiffany arc. I think they’re a little burned out on Jack and Luann; the next most interesting arc. Everything else seems to have slipped to tertiary in their minds.
Wow, so Tiffany’s big plan lasted less that a day before the strip informed us that it’d fail. Usually they’d try and milk it for a bit before slamming the door shut in our faces. Still, I suppose it saves us the trouble of getting emotionally invested. Personally I’m waiting for the whole thing to get dropped altogether just like almost every other shake-up that happens to characters around here. For example, remember how quickly the whole Piro thing was dropped after months and months of teasing and buildup? Then he finally kisses Bernice (who isn’t exactly impressed by it), says he’ll talk to her later…. and was literally never seen again and mentioned only once in passing.
Or in Tiffany-centric stories: how about when her therapy got doubled and her allowance cut in half? Sure, we got a week of being reminded why we were well-rid of Phelps/Fogarty, but where was the fallout of her losing that much of her income? Especially now would be a good time to bring it up, but it’s like that step never even took place. Or the whole “2 dates on the same night” thing? Where’s the aftereffects of that one? Les and Gunther reset back to their normal Cold War instead of having any lasting development, but what about their respective relationships with her? Or has the whole thing just been forgotten?
Well, this is a week of juxtaposition I guess. On one side we see Tiffany “Jumping the Shark” Ferrell regressing to be more air-headed than she was at 15 and on the other side we see Bernice “Freud” Halper actually being rather subdued, yet accurate in her assessments.
Even though I am feeling more “annoyance” than “hillarity (ensues)” with Tiffany, I am still finding the portrayal of Bernice this week to be “nice”.
Hopefully after Saturday, perhaps Tiffany will flit off to Kids First to demand her raise and be out of the picture for a while so the bad taste I have of the last two weeks can dissipate…. and then perhaps some genuine hillarity can ensue… perhaps Piro will pop into the picture and we can see how Bernice responds… will she ignore him, or will she just be casual, or will she get all twitterpated?
A possibility just occurred…what if Tiffany is on a “2 Broke Girls” path (just the situation, not the show), if this raise thing bombs, and ends up waitressing at The Fuse/KK?
Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero plus Zero is ZERO.
Well, every online raise negotiation article I’ve read states it never HURTS to ask for a raise, so do it. It usually follows up with women are way more likely to undervalue there worth (I do nothing at Kids First…) and thus less likely to successfully negotiate a raise. Most schools need some admin to keep the place running, though we don’t know what Tiff does exactly. It’s a good place for Tiff to start at least, and if it doesn’t work out she will be in a stronger position at her next job interview when they ask why she left Kids First – the compensation was not in line with market standards (or more specifically, not in line with MY standards) and she is seeking more opportunity for growth. At least she will have had the experience of asking for a raise, unlike Luann. It also bears mentioning that Pittsville is a strange town economically- waiting tables at the local dinner theater seems rather lucrative, and the Kids First (non profit?) job seems financially not very lucrative. I also know growing up in a small town, sometimes asking for a raise can result in months of co worker gossip on weather the raise was “earned”, generating a lot of negative vibes at the workplace and the industry that may not be worth the effort. Also, quitting isn’t always an option with limited job opportunities in smaller towns. If Walmart and the gas and go the only employers around, you can’t afford to quit. I still think Tiff would be happier in a sales position but without knowing what Pittsville has to offer I can’t really judge.
It’s “nice” to see that after years of strips, there’s been zero character development and growth. It’s like reading Beetle Bailey. After 68 years the idiots all do the same thing they did back then.
The writer is making Tif seem so stupid. Bring in Gunther to help her again! In my world selfish evil people like Ann do not get away with mistreating others like this!
Ah, a raise… I was working for a newspaper company for twenty years. I never once had to ask for a raise. Every November I was called into the boss’ office… and surprised with a 3% raise. That was the highest percentage for raises. But then, the raises stopped as the newspaper had to compete with the Internet. Soon we all had to decide whether to have pay cuts, or two weeks without pay. Pay cuts won. I had been there a long time, and I was determined to do everything I could to make the paper huge again. A few weeks later, I was made redundant.
Tiffany had better think long and hard before asking for a raise… And I can’t believe I said that with a straight face.
