Bernice is a friend. Friends ought to be able to needle each other a little (but not a lot).

“re”-again, “solution”-the act of solving a problem, question, etc…so resolution is the act of solving a problem again… isn’t that the definition of insanity?

I seem to recall Bernice making the same observation several times during the dozen or so years that they were in high school, and Luann reacting by making that same resolution.

The resolution Luann makes on her laptop is one I think she can actually keep. She can have better friends than that.

Sunday foible, nice drawing, can’t think of anything else.

That resolution is a joke, but not really that much of joke. Evans has been painting Bernice with more and more of a nasty streak the last few years. I suspect that eventually Luann will come to the same conclusion as a plot point and not as a punchline.

I hate snark and sarcasm.

If it was a scrapbook of resolutions from years past, wouldn’t it be a scrapbook of “Old Year’s Resolutions”?

Au contraire, sometimes it’s nice to have a friend with whom you can be completely honest. At least Bernice is smiling as she says her comment..and Luanne is perfectly free to snark right back at her. When you grow up with the same friends over the years, you don’t have to maintain false airs, ideas, etc. etc. And, most likely, in another 20 years, all they will remember are the times they laughed or cried together. That’s what friends do….

I think it’s more than just the perception of Bernice’s snark going on, here… It’s probably more so Bernice’s chain of word play, that’s got Luann’s dander up! I mean, really! How can anyone dare take words and just use them like that!?…. How could a person even live with themselves, for opportunistically seizing upon the slightest bit of context-shaping, for the purpose of pointing out all the idiosyncratic nuances of the West Atlantic amalgam,that we call English?? Cashing upon the rich exchanges of our word banks!?…I mean, who even does that!!!!???…

Some people keep resolutions Bernice while others don’t and we all have the same one on Jan, 1st that’s too lose weight.

At least it seems Bern has made a new friend in Tiffany. One more thing, Luann appears to be paying a bit MORE attention to Bernice today than she did Pru last week. Kinda funny and sad….,

Why aren’t we seeing a Super Bowl theme today? Wouldn’t Luann and friends be gathered together to watch the game?

Hasn’t Luann already made new friends? Pru, Tara, Jack, Nil(more of an acquaintance though). We have had some new friend characters for Lu over the past couple years.

Greg should have colored Bernice’s “Star Trekky” shirt red, so that she can be eaten by an alien in the next panel.

It’s not the destination it’s the journal.

Thought Luann should have done that in grade school.

Maybe Luann did keep all her resolutions. She could have eaten a little better each year, exercised some, and been a little more organized. She could have improved a little each year. Getting new friends is a good idea when it comes to Bernice.

Friends are overrated. Delicious, but overrated.

Actually, Luann’s resolution is a pretty good idea, since hanging out with Bernice gets tedious pretty quickly. In all the time that Luann has been attending community college, she has apparently met only three people there (Jack, Nil, and Tara). The idea of sending the cast on to college was to revitalize the strip by retiring some of the old characters and adding new ones. Let’s hope the writers haven’t given up on that plan.

tomorrow: back to the Gulag, and the pressing question: Will Luann finally remove her jacket?!

Sometimes, it’s not WHAT you say, but HOW you say it!! Bernice’s statement MIGHT not be so bad, if it weren’t for her (less than?) off-handed snarky comments (complete with snorky laughs) right TOWARD Luann! I don’t blame Luann one bit for thinking of ‘other horizons’…

I’m sure that without Luann the always serious Bernice would not have fun and never laugh. She need her really a lot But for Luann it’s better that, this time, she follows her new first resolution.

Making New Year’s resolutions, like marriage, is the triumph of hope over experience.
