I used to be a road warrior. And the scrambled eggs in many hotels were so bad I had to put ketchup and Tabasco sauce or Cholula on them to make them palatable. Now I have the habit. This sounds like ketchup-on-scrambled-eggs anonymous.
My wife ate ketchup on her eggs when we got married. Somewhere along the line, she stopped. I think my scrambled eggs aren’t as dry as how she would cook them.
Wonder if the guy on the left was a Navy vet. My aunt & uncle, who’d both been in the Navy, said ketchup on EVERYTHING was the Navy way – otherwise the food would have been inedible.
That being said, I used to put ketchup on my scrambled eggs when I was a kid, but haven’t done that in decades. Just butter & salt, & occasionally some chopped green onions, & only cook them till they’re barely set.
Haha! Even before looking at the text, I knew it was a “debate” and of the two fellow Pluggers… the grandly mustachioed fellow would be bearer of reason and logic. :)
Ketchup (or catsup… which I tend to purposefully refer to as “cat soup”) really belongs on NOTHING in my opinion. :)
I can understand a potential use that wretched concoction for french fries, but that is not really particularly tasty either.
For me, scrambled eggs are best plain (or with black pepper or peppers and onions)…. but I also do occasionally enjoy a bit of salsa or salsa verde on them. And, when I eat french fries, I tend to eat them just salted, or if I need a “sauce” I will use mustard style BBQ sauce…. or (prepare to grimace) I have to admit I have dunked them in a chocolate shake as well. :)
First time I heard of Ketchup on scrambled eggs was when I was watching an old Three Stooges short. Decided to try it just to see what it tasted like. Been putting ketchup on my scrambled eggs ever since.

I’m not for ketchup on ANYthing I eat. (It’s usually tabasco sauce on my scrambled eggs.)

Worcestershire sauce is tasty on scrambled eggs, but Frank’s Red Hot Sauce or Cholula hot sauce are good too for topping one’s scrambled eggs.

Louisiana Hot Sauce for me, not to be confused with Tabasco. Ketchup sometimes on french fries only.
ctolson almost 6 years ago
Yeah, hot sauce for me too. Also on chicken.

Scrambled eggs remind me of something that was eaten a while ago and didn’t stay down.
whelan_jj almost 6 years ago
My grandmother taught me that the best thing on scrambled eggs is grape jelly.

Drive thru order: McMuffin or Croisanwich, or chain specific egg sandwich, with a couple of packets of hot sauce, please.

first it starts simple, ketchup on eggs. then the debate moves to weightier topics like do you need mayo on a BLT.

It is what your pleasure is mine is grape jelly or black berry jam. To each his own.

Dry mustard powder and garlic salt mixed into the eggs before scrambling. They taste like deviled eggs.
