Guess we are back to Tiff and and Ann this week. Tune in for a future strip, when ta-da, we get back to the thrilling adventure of who ends up dating Doug!
Uh Huh. And You can BET that Ann is getting HER nails done at the most expensive place in town, GUILT FREE!
Maybe even at THAT place. Tiff should talk to these ladies. Maybe Ann DOES get her nails done there also. Maybe Ann also runs off at the mouth, to the “hired help.” Maybe these ladies are privy to some useful incriminating intel that could finish Ann off once and for all.
OR
Tiffany could start hanging out with Ann. Go shopping where Ann goes. Get her nails done where Ann gets hers done. If Ann expects Tiff to go cheap, then SHE should set the example. Tiff should Ann’s “shadow” and be at her elbow at EVERY move and drive he flat freaking crazy.
And at a crucial moment look Ann in the eye and ask: “Have you told my dad about your son, Les, Yet??”
Yes, kick Ann out of your conscience. She has no place in your life, in your mind, in your conscience or anywhere. Call dad. Ask if you could have your manicures and pedicures and see how he reacts. If he asks why you needed to ask, you’ll know Ann lied.
If anyone’s driving Daddy Dearest to the poorhouse, Evil Ann is holding the steering wheel. I can’t blame Tiffany for wanting these things. She’s been used to this all her life, her father replaced the love and time he could’ve spent with her by throwing money and material things at her. She’s known nothing else.
Now, not only has she lost most all that, she now has this psychopath taking away everything she has been used to and practically turned her dad away from her. A bad deal all the way around. Just the way Greg likes it when it comes to Tiffany. Time to move on to another strip, girl. You’re never gonna get anywhere by sticking around here but misery and another bout with depression.
Poor Tiff. She at least deserves to relax, or doesn’t Anne Awful get her nails done too? The master moocher is telling Tom’s fortune heir to stop her spending. How ironic! What Tiff saves Tom, Anne Awful will spend on herself! The only good thing I see here is that Tiff has to learn work for a living. But other than that I see no other good, as far as Anne Awful is concerned. She’s probably putting his money in a Swiss Bank account, on HER name only. Crook! Shake off that bad vibe, Tiff.
Ah, I feel so bad for Tiff. My mom (dead these ten years, at age 95) is still in my head. When she would give me something she would say “You don’t need anything that nice, seconds are good enough for you”. I now have a very conflicted relationship my kitchen knives, pots and pans, my china…. Ive outworn my towels and clothing. Every time I wore them or use them, I think “you aren’t good enough for top quality”. I love my mom dearly, I know she was trying to help. I’m glad for her generosity. If she had just phrased it “I knew you would love these things. They are the best I can afford”. I suspect her ego couldn’t admit that she couldn’t afford top quality things.
It appears Ann has entered Tiff’s psyche as “The Witch” or alternately “The Witch Mother.” Supplying “You’re not OK” messages. Let’s hope she can muster enough psychic energy (anger?) to provide effective combat in this arena.
So, exactly what is Ann doing to earn a living these days? I recall her ordering filet mignon for lunch. Tiffany needs to do some detective work and prove to her Dad that he’s being swindled.
Sadly, this is the Tiffany that I never liked – and perhaps, G&K have groomed us to (strongly dislike) (I strongly dislike using the “h” word).
This is the Tiffany that I hoped would go away with the pizza box episode. Well, I guess she’s back. Let’s hope that G&K will allow her to become interesting once again.
I saw this panel before I went to bed last night, but I could not think of anything to write, had to percolate a bit. So now the less sympathetic Tiffany rears her pouty, irritated and entitled head, with Ann Eiffel, of all people being the disapproving “mother” image reminding Tiffany of how guilty she is of all those negatives, driving her dad to the poor house. How does the “old” Tiff react? Like Tiff of yore, enough to nosily startle the foot and nail spa workers doing her hand/feet nails. Poor Tiff.
It will be interesting to see what happens when Tiff goes to pay. Perhaps her card has limits and she might be up against that limit and it will be declined. Oh, what to do?
It’s funny how even after all the time spent on the last storyarc, it still feels like an abrupt and jarring non-ending when they switch over to a different character without warning like this.
I will never thought that the Evil Ann would become the face of Tiffany’s conscience! Ann will become the limit Tiffany needs, an authoritarian parent figure … It’s terrible, but she need this for growing.
Hmm. Is Tiffany upset here simply because Ann had the previous exchange with her about spending? Or…. could this be Tiffany actually taking to heart the idea of being more frugal…. yet not wanting to?
In other words…. is she still mad about Ann, or is Tiffany’s own conscious using Ann’s voice to chastise herself?
My own expectation is that she is truly just angry at Ann. This would be in keeping with the pattern others have suggested….. namely “thinner Tiffany” = more vapid Tiffany, whereas “less thin Tiffany” = more introspective Tiffany.
Even though my expectation is she is just angry at Ann…. I would find it interesting and enjoyable if instead, Tiffany is actually feeling a little bit of guilt about frivolous spending and Ann’s voice is simply the vehicle she is perceiving her more introspective guilt through.
* * *
On a side note…. I think it would have been funny if the shop Tiffany was at had featured the “Fish Pedicure” that flashed onto the news stream a couple of years ago. I recall it being very funny where people getting a pedicure would put their feet into a container housing live fish who would nibble off excess skin from the toes and feet to create the base for the pedicure and probable toe painting.
There are two movie scenes that will forever be fixed in my mind as the most erotic in film history. This brings one immediately to mind, Kathy Baker’s salon scene from “Edward Scissorhands.”
When is Tiffany going to call her friend, the CEO of Souffle Lingerie, and tell her about Ann’s scam?
I ask this because, the way things are going, Tiffany’s best bet is to see her about getting a job so she can finally cut ties with her idiot father. It may mean moving to Paris, but she’s no stranger to the place. And with her knowledge of Souffle Lingerie, she’d do pretty good for herself.
If anything, Bernice could try (and I do mean try) to give her some tips about putting money away. One of my uncles once told me to not have all your money in one account. It’s best to stash some money in one account, and have another for emergencies. I have what I like to call a “shoebox account”. And, of course, there’s always the “cookie jar fund”.
Let’s face it… Tiffany is being driven crazy, and Ann is behind the wheel. Her father…? He’s in the baby seat way in the back. Tiffany was a brat before, but she’s suffered long enough. Someone, please do something about Ann!
What’s the story with Tiffany’s mother? If she’s alive, even if they’ve not always gotten along, she might prove to be a useful ally against Daddy’s gold digger.
The actress who plays Tiffany got pregnant; rather than writing her out of the script they came up with the idea for a Fat Tiffany story arc. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy two months ago. The Fat Tiffany arc continued while she hit the Peloton but she now has it all together and the producers allowed her to get rid of the fat suit

I can see Ann’s point. I mean, how is she supposed to dig Tom Farrell’s gold, if Tiffany is spending it?

Well, the author can make whatever he wants of them. He could even cure them conditions as easily as curing all of his worlds ills ;)
