Now look, I’ve given a million ladies a million foot massages, and they all meant something. We act like they don’t, but they do, and that’s what’s so cool about them. There’s a sensuous thing going on where you don’t talk about it, but you know it, she knows it.

Already more follow-through than I expected from Tiff.

Looks like Tiff has found a good job.

And then she gets a fine for running an illegal business in the dorm, maybe evicted.

Imagine the fun when Tiffany is informed that she is not allowed to run a business out of a dormitory. Also imagine the fun when Ox tells people about the great massage he got and people assume she has opened a massage parlor.

So Tiff does have the touch. Now all she needs is a business, including a place to conduct the business, licenses, marketing in place, etc, etc, etc…

Well is going to Uni. How about a degree in cosmetology? They do have places where student beauticians ply there trade. Of course, she probably won’t get paid at those places. But it’s the first step to getting licensed, and establishing a rep.It might even impress her father, seeing her take a career choice seriously. That is, if Ann doesn’t spoil everything by saying “Your daughter is a gasp manicurist”.

I think Ox is going to fall in love with Tiff. This should be interesting. :D

I was honestly not expecting this! I fully expected a disaster and Ox would just try to be nice the whole way through. Tiff just may have found her calling! Might even do a joint-op with the fuse. Salon by day, bar by night! (Don’t mock. This was a thing back in Danville, California for a few years: Victoria’s Hair on Stage, Salon by Day. Cabaret by Night. Turned into the Reel Blondes after the owners retired and sold the shop for a few years after before the cast retired. I should know, I was one of the crew members.)

Of course she’d never apply for a job at a nail salon…way beneath her. She gotta be the boss. Well, at least she is an enterpriser. Is she? Can she balance a ledger?

Time to break out the silver drool buckets.

She seems happy at It. Hope it is a start on the right direction for her, while she’s in college. I just wonder how much she’s going to charge. Let’s hope she’ll be reasonable in that area too. Seems like a good start towards ridding herself of Anne Awful.

Have fun when the Board of Health comes knocking on the door asking to see her license and certifications that she’s been properly trained and is following the right sanitary practices.

She may need to be licensed, but Tiff may be on to something here…

Personally I think that Tiffany is still looking for a quick fix to get back to the spending level she is used to – and starting your own business, almost no matter which, is not a quick route to a fortune. But what this route make take the plot is to get her back on with Dad – seeing that she is showing an interest in running a business he might back her, thus sending money Tiff’s way that Ann Eiffel was hoping to grab.

I thought the sign was clever.

Does California require licenses for manicurists? She may be in trouble with the guild.

Is Tiffany aware of the licensing requirements for operating a business and the additional licenses and certifications necessary for operating a mail salon (which involves health risks)? Let’s hope the Pitts law enforcement agencies are as lax on Tiffany when they bust her as they were on Ann Eiffel when they arrested her for… Oh, right. Never mind.

I am truthfully surprised that Tiffany is comfortable with massaging and “beautifying” folks’ feet. Hands, possibly, but from what we have grown to know and expect from Tiffany, I would have more likely guessed that she would have been rather grossed out about palpating and touching other people’s feet.

A lot of folks have commented on how this is “illegal” without a license, and that it would also not be allowed in the dormitory, and that she would be getting into serious trouble. My thoughts:

1. If she were to get into trouble, the only way I see as likely in terms of the dorm is if Bernice were to write her up for the infraction. Somehow I tend to doubt this would occur.

2. If she were to get into more legalistic trouble, I would expect that to be through Ann’s efforts. That could be the direction this is heading, but I would tend to think nothing would happen in that regard until Tiffany were to take it somewhere OFF CAMPUS. I tend to think that Ann would not likely notice until after that point.

Other thoughts:

If this is something that Tiffany is going to now be doing to earn money, I hope it does not involve her leaving Moony, nor leaving the pursuit of some sort of other type of career that she can focus on longer term. Do not get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with being a manicurist/pedicurist…. it just, however, does not seem a likely sort of carreer/occupation that will lead Tiffany along a path to have the style of life that she is really aiming for. The role as a manicurist/pedicurist seems far more likely temporary for her.

Awesome! Glad she’s doing good with Ox! Hopefully she finds something more stable to do this business at!

Give Tiff credit for pursuing manual labor to fund herself. There seem to be so few of us that are willing to do that. It is reasonable for the nattering nabobs of negativism to hold swat however. The Even’s seem to desire no end to the misery in store for Tiffany.

Some will fault Tiff for not knowing the cert requirements, yet no one panned Brad and Toni re bldg permits. Sorry. I just don’t “get” the negative vibes that Tiffany engenders.

I’ve seen men’s feet. She could finish in 40 minutes only if she had a motor tool and an angle grinder.

So washing dishes was beneath her, but she’s going to rub strangers’ feet?

Why is she using the infinitive form “entrer”? It should be “entrez”, which sounds exactly the same so maybe it’s Greg’s fault. Of course he’s a friend, so “entre” would be better; but if she is role-playing a formal business interaction it would probably be “Entrez, s’il vous plaît.”

In the first panel, is Entrer French for Enter?

cartoon manicurists do not require such serious certification and documentation. All they require is their version of the Hippocratic Oath which begins: “This little piggy went to the market, this little piggy stayed home etc., etc.”

I actually read some of the comments this morning before I wrote mine being so late. I first thought about the business license aspect of this, and I think that is a possible arc line that might be followed but for now I am going to retreat into an observant phase of hilarity ensuing and see what happens. I bet though if she does an unlicensed salon out of her dorm room, Bernice will be involved, and that would only be the start.

Wait until she finds out she needs a license from the Health Department.

At times, Tiff must do her own nails as she has a lot of equipment/supplies and no funds to purchase new items without Ann finding out…. This could afford her cash to spend without needing permission from Ann, who will in turn become angry when she can’t hold the card over Tiff’s head… she will have to find another way to torture her. Maybe her father will notice and become concerned then proud

Obviously Tiffany is very good at doing nails and all kind of beauty tratment. But who knows how Bernice will take her activity? I hope she will help Tiffany to find a solution foor keep going with this job.

Ah, for the freedom of the comic pages. In real life she would have to get a license from Little Brother before she could set up shop.

I feel bad that she no longer has money.

When you polish nails you cannot keep a good manicure yourself because you are using solvents and other chemicals applied with your hands.

I imagine when Tiff starts living on her own income, Daddy is going investigate and THIS may be how Awful Ann ends up getting the boot. “You told my daughter she couldn’t spend my money?!”

Tiffany could probably make a lot of money at this. But she’ll probably get in trouble later for being unlicensed!

Tiff should think bigger. She could be a makeover artist for ladies, showing them how to be looking good all the time.

I never thought I’d see TIFFANY doing a job like this! She’s the kind of girl who loves to “be pampered”, not “doing the pampering”. However, it’s nice to see that she may have found her calling. I have never seen Ox so relaxed.

Now, as for making money… Perhaps she could apply to work at a salon where she can get legal training. The only problem with that is the possibility of Ann finding out where she’s working. Some customers like to be difficult, and Ann loves to upset Tiffany knowing that Dear ol’ Dad won’t do anything about it.

I hope this works out for Tiffany. I like that she wants to work, and this could be a great career for her.

Oxford has a huge smile on his sleeping face! Foot massage definitely working! I think Tiff As Nails may succeed, as long as all its customers are good-hearted guys who like Tiffany….

I can see it now…Tiffany opens up a string of franchise nail salons and becomes more wealthy than her father.

maybe Ox will become her partner in the endeavor.

So many problems…illegal to operate a business out of a dorm, no beautician’s license, no experience. The only good thing is the name, “Tiff as Nails.”
