If I recall, Bernice is the residence assistant. So where’s the main person in charge of the residence? What will SHE have to say about this?

Interesting. The line is back to more cartoonish figures (rather than the realistic guys from yesterday).

Bernice was a bit more reasonable about it than I thought she’d be, but it’s still nice to see everyone united against her. About time she learned that being an effective RA is about more than just enforcing curfew at 10 pm (seriously, what college does this?), but about being someone the dorm residents can trust for help or guidance. I doubt any of these people want anything to do with her.

Why would they shut her down? – I could see restricting hours – but not shutting down – not in the UK or NZ I suppose the USA is a bit less free

The RA is the enforcer so Bernice IS doing her job. I am glad to see her not saying “Oh Tiffany, selling nail painting services. So cool! Better hurry before the cre/crh (coordinator of residence education or hall – her boss) shows up, ya know, because you’re not supposed to do this in the dorm or on campus. I will lock the door so no more can come in – just those already inside, OK.?” Something like that. She gives it straight – she can’t do that and gotta stop. Time for Tiffany to learn the rules – she can’t just up and do whatever she wants. She lives in a society of rules and laws. She needs to know what they are. After all, she admired herself in her hand mirror and groomed herself in Mr. Fogarty’s history class throughout high school so she knows nil about civics.

The shade of it all. I feel like today’s strip is making rabid sports fans look like the nutjobs we are. What up with that? (P.s. Face painting woulda been legal! In some states..)

Bernice, today you learn about how discretion is the better part of valor

Borenice has a job to do too., but both will have to compromise somewhere. Tiff is doing something that is boosting the student’s morale so I hope the admin will leave her alone. I also hope Tiff may have found her call, work to become a successful young entrpeneur, vanquish Anne Awful and her old “depend on daddy for everything” herself. Tiff has a star shinning on her but it is not be as the famous actress she thinks she is. We know the business name already too. “Tiff’s”

Bernice should just say, “OK, have it your way” and notify her superiors. THEY can come and shut Tiffany down, and maybe bring the cops along for good measure just so she knows they aren’t fooling around.

This isn’t a matter of mean old Bernice raining on Tiffany’s parade. Tiffany is breaking the law, both the dorm rules and the laws regulating the manicure business.

Give her a free/complimentary fanicure and she’ll have no room to complain. Works for politicians.

Okay. Let’s say the “Wrong” person, someone with REAL power (Like the Dean Of Students) catches Tiffany here violating some draconian campus “rule.”

Would Tiffany get a “slap on the wrist” or would she get expelled? Tiff’s Expulsion would play right into Ann’s hands there. Tiff being kicked out of college, means MORE of Tom’s money for Ann. And I can also see Ann talking Tom into cutting Tiffany off money-wise completely, Saying it’s time “Your daughter pulled herself up by her boot straps!” And Tiffany does just THAT, taking her nail painting gig off campus. (To the Fuse Maybe?) And making money.

As far as I can remember, this Strip never had a college dropout. Tiffany COULD be the first. Hmmmmmm….., ;)

A for effort Tiffany, but you can’t run a business out of a dorm room, or do nails without a license. Bernice, shut that girl up behind you please….

It is interesting to read the comments that liken Tiff to AL CAPONE!! The guy who lives next door to me fixes cars to help his family stay alive. He can’t get hired because he’s a physical wreck and in pain. I imagine many of you would have him sent to jail for it. I guess you also advocate the TRAINS RUNNING ON TIME!!

Not sure why it wouldn’t be legal. Lots of kids in dorms do small jobs to make a little extra cash. Hair cuts was a big one back in my day, but there was a guy who built loft beds in other dorm rooms. A guy in my son’s dorm started a business delivering cookies. All run out of his dorm. No problem.

Ah ha! I predicted a riot yesterday. What next? Food fight? Kampus Kops? Tiff spending her ill-gotten gains on bail??? ;o)

I have to make one additional comment after reading some of the others. Of course a nail business, or any other business not sanctioned by the University is not going to be allowed in the dorm. Of course Bernice, who has the unfortunate role of being the rules enforcer is going to have to let Tiffany know about those rules and enforce them. Tiffany is hardly Bonnie of Bonnie and Clyde, and she has fans, which means sales, and which make her drawn character feel good. We forget why she is in need of encouragement. The tch tch of some people here is deafening. As I said initially “we have a situation here.” There are two issues projectors: first will the arc continue next week, and second, what will happen next? Personally I hope they draw something where Tiffany can do this business within the rules, and stay in college. But I am just a reader, not a cartoonist. And I can be a projector too, but I am trying to recover (lol).

The Evans are about to give us a practical lesson in current politics. That kid shouting “R.A. go away” might as well be shouting “abolish ICE.”

Bernice should mind her own beeswax. Maybe there’s a little kid with a lemonaid stand she can harass.

Unfortunately, Bernice is right, the manicure/pedicure industry is highly regulated due to health concerns. It is a great idea, but Tiff needs to learn to follow the rules if she really wants to be successful.

Why is it “illegal”? Because some bureaucrats want license money to pay themselves? I can see she’s just painting nails. Do we need tons of rules to govern all the little things that we do? Too much power is given to the governing bodies IMO

I love this arc. Tiffany is really trying to manage her own affairs by starting a nail business. It is cool how Ox is helping her. I had to overcome the “manicure/pedicure isn’t manly” thing. My wife helped me. She said how much she loved my manicured hands and feet that don’t cut her to shreds at night.It was funny watching the fans lining up for “Tiff as Nails”. Can’t wait to see how Tiffany handles the illegitimacy of her dorm-based business.
