Jack, it is SO obvious Tiffany is trying to sabotage the whole thing. I am guessing you don’t know their history? If you don’t, then you are not much of a pal if she hasn’t shared that with you. Too bad she didn’t because you’d know what Tiffany is doing. TJ???? Your server is slacking off on the job! Fire her already.
Awww, that is so cute! Tiff feigning interest in Jack’s dog photos. Remember, Tiffany has always aspired to be an actress. Have we ever seen her with a dog before? Just an ACT on her part to try to win over Jack. I would love to see Princess Tiff’s reaction if a dog actually licked her face…
This is one of those times when Tiffany is right. Jack is very careful about what happens to Luann and he is really afraid that her could be in danger, so much that everything she does becomes a signal to him. Perhaps this will be the part when Jack will understand to loves Luann? It would be great if the person who helps him to understand will be Tiffany.
While the two stooges fight, Luann will get up and leave with Doug and they won’t even notice being busy with each other. Though that may be a better thing for both. Hey, I could see Jack hook up with Tiff. Hmmmm……….
Wasn’t the whole purpose of Tiffany’s becoming a waitress supposed to be that she wanted to earn tips? Just how much is she making, sitting at a table with a customer, watching two other customers eat? Les will demand his job back.
First she tells Jack “say hi and leave” (chin stroke), then “get ready to swoop” (cough) and now “text me so I can bail” (ear tug). Looks like things are getting worse.
Seems like Greg is showing us another way that a date can be sabotaged by friends. This is the second day Jack has “read” a signal that Tiffany has negated and called off the pre agreed action. Apparently, if Jack’s interpretations are correct, Luann is not enjoying the date and wants Jack’s assistance to call it off. If that’s the case there should be some fireworks at the aftermath. Will Tiffany bail out and leave Jack to bear the brunt or will she stick around to tweak Luann’s nose? Either way, what will be the consequence?
I think you guys are being too hard on Tiffany. Just think. If she HADN’T been distracting him, Jack would have misread Luann “signals,” “SWOOPED In, and made a total Fool of Himself and embarrassed, humiliated and angered “Luann.”
Tiffany’s running interference here, is doing the Big Lug and Luann a favor, and at the risk of her “JOB.”
And don’t forget, Tiffany FEARLESSLY got Luann’s money back from the Evil Ann!
Now ya’ll Ponder THAT, before you tie Tiff to the stake and light that funeral pyre…….,
With the way kids these days are glued to their damn phones…. it would not hurt one iota for Jack to text Luann….. in reality Luann likely has already gotten a dozen or so texts in the brief while that she has been there already…. if she is similar to other kids her age.
And, if Jack were to send the text, even if it has a special “Jack” ring-tone….. if her “maneuver” is only a hair tuck as Tiffany suggests… Luann can still just ignore it if she finds Dougy fascinating.
As far as Tiffany sitting at the table goes….. it does not look like The Fuse is particularly busy at the moment. In a lot of the establishments I go to the waitresses will sit with customers they know for a little bit if the business is slow, so I see no huge abnormality in Tiffany’s actions here in that regard.
In regards to Jack…. a lot of folks have commented on the return of the “Neanderthalic” version of Jack. While I can see what people are referring to….. to me… Jack also seems a helluva lot younger and more kid like in the last two days…. he looks more like they way I would think he would have been drawn at 15 or so. For me, I attribute this to either a) Greg was just in a hurry and took the fast route to draw Jack in these panels or b) he drew him more simply to more emphasize the contrast with both Luann and Tiffany.
Jack, with his blue shirt… looks almost like he belongs as a scientist/medical person on the original Star Trek today. :)
The story…. about Dougy/Tiffany/Luann/Doggy Pictures/Jack….. not seeming to lead anywhere…. feels like spinning wheels today.
Remember, Tiff is still trolling for a good tip! Also, while she is wasting all of this time with Jack, there are undoubtedly, other tables awaiting service!
Go home, get a shave, put on a fresh shirt, and Let Luanne fend for herself. The “fake phone call” (tell him your phone was on silence) always works for a quick exit.
All this is doing is highlighting how lame Luann is for relying on this (clearly not well-thought-out and definitely not rehearsed) plan instead of the simpler and foolproof “if I don’t like the guy, I’ll just leave.”
Not to mention that this week just feels like padding. “Was that a signal?” “No, it wasn’t. Pay attention to ME instead” repeated for 6 days…
I think Tiff, on discovering Jack’s mission, is trying deliberately to sabotage it i.e. to wreck Jack’s relationship with Luann in her favor. This is all about Tiff and Luann and their ongoing feud and competition for guys. I can even see a text message from Luann to Jack coming through and that Tiff (having snatched his phone) might erase it. The interesting thing, however, is that Doug is not of interest (to Tiff); she likes the hunky football players. I’m guessing that Doug is tall and slim, an intellectual type clad in black. All that said, I agree that Luann should not have relied on this kind of (somewhat childish) scheme; she is experienced enough with dating that she could plan to be up front in her interactions with Doug (if things don’t work out), e.g. just tell him her thoughts as to whether or not she thinks they are a good fit.
By the time Jack and Tiffany look up from his phone, Luann and Doug will have vanished. Tiffany will assure Jack that all is well. Tomorrow’s headline: “Police need help identifying dead girl found outside Fuse”
If Gunther was real, I just spotted something on Ebay that he might be interested in. A genuine set of "Spock"ears that Leonard Nimoy wore in the original series (at least that is what they say – there is documentation). Here is the description:
.
“These ear tips were worn by Leonard Nimoy in the Star Trek episode “Amok Time”. These ear tips were given to actress Celia Lovsky by Leonard Nimoy to give to her ex-husband Peter Lorre (Lovsky and Lorre remained good friends after divorce). Celia Lovsky played the Vulcan priestess T’Pal in this episode.”
I can’t argue with success, but Luann looks like a frog. No wonder her boyfriends ran off to Hawaii, or to the Army, or to Australia, or to Broadway. Too bad that the French Foreign Legion no longer exists. Viva la morte, viva la guerre, viva la sacre mercinaire. (Boy, I think I killed the spelling of that motto.)
I don’t know what the future of this comic holds, but there are two couples I’d like to see happen in Luann: Luann and Jack; Gunther and Tiffany. The idea may be weird to most, but this is just my opinion.
