It would make sense that the first dishwasher misplacement incident would follow immediately after the dishwasher’s creation. Maybe we need correct dishwasher stacking techniques taught at school? We have to do what we can for the next generation!
Just saw this on TV yesterday. The first automatic dishwasher was invented in the 1880s (by a woman) and was hand cranked. It’s on display in a museum in Portsmouth, Virginia. She got a patent on it and it evolved into the Whirlpool corporation.
Unlike a lot of arguments which are about matters of taste and therefore have no “correct” conclusion, there are matters of efficacy which affect dishwasher loading, and therefore are amenable to facts and reason. Of course, I have no dishwasher but me, so no arguments here.
After my mother screamed that at me I stopped loading the dishwasher. I told her that I could not “do it right” and she was more than happy to continue loading it. It took her about two years to figure that out and show me how to load that dishwasher.
It makes me think of my teen years, after my parents got a dishwasher. For all the talk we hear about kids not doing household chores, I was more than willing to do the dishes and place them in the dishwasher, but my Dad wouldn’t allow me or anyone else in the house to do it since he was the only one who could “do it right”! Maybe that’s why, here 50 years later, I enjoy doing the dishes and/or loading and unloading the dishwasher so much!

She’s RIGHT!
You should be “Hand Washing” those dishes!

This is soooo true! It doesn’t matter which way I load it, my wife always comes along behind me and rearranges the dishes the “right” way.

There is a right way to put in dishes? Who made that rule. Just pile them in there and turn it on. Sheesh!

I don’t tell my wife how to load the dishwasher and she doesn’t tell me how to mow the lawn.

Years ago my father complained that everyone was loading the dishwasher wrong, and that from now on only he would load it.
A week later, he asked why he was the only one loading the dishwasher.
