When I was a kid, I didn’t pay much attention to the text and couldn’t tell the bed was still unmade, so I assumed that the robot had made the bed while Calvin and Hobbes weren’t looking.
As one who learned the hard way, Calvin— There’s a certain exhilaration attached to sleeping in a well-made bed. Not quite the same as flopping into a sloppy one.
You make the bed to unmake the bed to make the bed to unmake the bed, etc. etc. Silliest damned waste of time ever invented. The next silliest is spending a ton of money to make your grass grow then spend another ton to keep it from growing. I don’t participate in either illogical endevour.
This story arc reminds me of the Propeller Beanie story arc from earlier this year. Both times, Calvin was disappointed that reality didn’t live up to his imagination but both times he had a happy ending.

And thus, at an early age, I learned the value of procrastination.

Tomorrow you will have to come up with another diversionary tactic.

Failure at one mission leads to success in another. Good thinking Calvin.

Now, Calvin can spend all of tomorrow trying to make the robot work and coming up with the same results.

I like how all the story arcs here end the same way I remember them ending.

I’ll look up the meaning of procrastination later.

Gotta love kids. They spend three hours and 10 times the effort to avoid a 10 minute task. Bless their brain damaged hearts.

Yeah why make a bed anyway? It’ll just get messed up again tonight. Why do you think we keep them hidden in back rooms?

I’m closing in on 50 years old, and I haven’t ever made my bed, not even one single time.
It doesn’t seem to have done me any lasting harm.
