OT: Nushi update – Nushi went to the top level of the cat tree! This was the first time she climbed there since she got sick! She did it twice!!! This was her favorite place to play, nap and stare out the windows (or down at me). I’ve been waiting for this landmark!!! Go Nushi!!!
Her shot went better today though I think that I nicked a blood vessel? Bleeding under her skin I think. Hopefully it didn’t push too much of the meds out, but I don’t think so. Nushi handled it very well and it stopped bleeding fairly quickly. She’s still throwing up first thing in the morning. I will ask the group if any one else has had this happen. I may try setting my alarm and giving her some dry food at around 5am. I usually give her some food around midnight and she seems to throw up in early morning before I feed her in the morning, so hopefully this will help.
Thank you for all of your help, kind words, for making me laugh when I really really need it. AND for sending Nushi and me your purrs, boops, prayers and energy.

The King of France started making noises about conquering England, while so many British troops were way far away across the Atlantic Ocean. So our beneficent King George decided to call his boys home. When the Colonist Rebel Scum woke up and realized they needed HRH, he’d be there to welcome them home with open arms. So, it really was a draw, not a win. Not even a place or a show!!!

She has chest tubes on both sides to drain off the fluid that keeps accumulating around her lungs & enable her to breathe on her own & she’s on oxygen, but that bleeping hose is out of her throat after a week and a half! Her color is pretty good considering all she’s been through.
Her kidneys are working, but most of the water they’d be pulling out of her system is going out her chest tubes (sepsis makes everything leaky), so her urine looks like black coffee. Just the fact that they’re working & she hasn’t needed dialysis is amazing!
(Not all the news is so great. They’re trying to feed her via a stomach tube, but nothing is staying down & they’re worried that she might aspirate what she throws up, so that’s still a worry. About half her liver is dead, but the hope is that it will regenerate.)
Just like her country, she’s young, scrappy, & hungry, & she’s not throwing away her shot! We’re all hoping & praying that she’s turned a corner & is finally on her way to recovery. She’s still in for a long haul in the hospital & then in rehab (PT started this week). Still in need of all the (((((HUGGZ))))), purrrrrrrrrrz, prayers, good vibes, boops, headbonks, mews, yips, chirps, etc. to help progress keep progressing.
Hello again. The kittens are all doing just dandy. Elvis and Lupin have passed the one year mark.
Did I mention that Lupin looks like a Pomeranian? All hair, not much cat. I have almost convinced Lisa to let me shave him…for his own good. Okay, not really. I have almost convinced here to let clip him down to a short hair. I suspect she will allow this with the understanding that she will not help and will not drive me to the hospital.
Bandit, Sophie and Tommie are about 8 months old. Tommie is a mush but the girls have gotten a little skittish. Or independent. The entire crew (minus Trixie) is more than happy to assemble on the bed while we are trying to sleep. Jockeying for the best leg nest and kidney cuddle, bumping away for rubbies. Get them in the living room and they act like they never met you. Harrumph.
The continuing good news is Trixie. Still skittish but coming along nicely. Lisa is her anchor, I am but an egg. In the early days she allowed rubbies in the kitchen during mealtimes. She now allows rubbies almost anytime in the kitchen. She gives Lisa the occasional leg rub and will even come to Lisa when called (in the kitchen, sometimes).
In the great room she is now comfortable anywhere. She will let you walk past without skittering away. She lounges on the couch, on the coffee table, almost within reach of Lisa. And, once in a while even I, the lowly egg, am allowed to give skritchies outside the kitchen.
This one reminds me of a classic “B.C.N.” strip about fireworks where the cats say, “The world is ending and the people are just eating potato salad.” (Couldn’t find a direct link; sorry.)
