Opal takes it for granted that Nelson was paying enough attention to Pooh that he’d know the solution.

It’s funny that a couple people commented before about Pooh Bear and now Nelson made the same observation.

…Wait, how are the others getting in and out of the house? Via another door, or does Earl have to crawl back and forth when they open and close this one?

I really hope it’s the latter.

I was wondering when this comic strip when mention ol’ Pooh bear. That is what I think of whenever I see someone getting stuck.

I thought someone poured honey all over Pooh and he slid out of the hole.

If Earl has to stay long enough to lose weight then who’s going to wipe his unreachables?

We used to have greyhounds, so we have a giant dog door that is easy to crawl through. It’s funny watching our latest, a 9-lber, jump the door.

…at least his position is semi-restful…he can rest his chin on his hands and his elbows on the floor, and his knees on the welcome mat. They might offer him a pillow for his poor old knees, that mat won’t feel very welcome after just a few minutes… >^..^<

I can’t see how that could resolve without replacing the door.

Hmmm…maybe she could tug his sweater off over his head and that would be enough to allow him to get out backwards?

Did anyone else notice the artwork in this strip? It looks cleaner and fresher than usual. And everyone looks a bit taller.

If this were TV, we could cut to a commercial and the camera man could help him out.

Ok, Nelson, you hold Earl’s glasses so they don’t get broken. Opal, go out the back door and get your daughter, her husband, or one of Earl’s friends. Have Earl hold his arms straight out in front, with his shoulders drawn in as much as possible. Then you and the other adult each grab a leg, and pull him out. It might work. Or it might kill him. Either way, it’s better than having to explain to visitors why he’s stuck in the door.

When I was younger, any place I could get my shoulders through the rest could follow. That’s still kinda true, considering the rotator cuff business, but my belly is a clearcut backstop option for getting stuck.
