No, your doctor has no power to prevent you from drinking coffee. He’s advising you. You can pay attention, ignore his advise, get another doctor or take up smoking instead…
Such advice may be detrimental to the economy of Brazil and all the coffee shops and coffee franchises worldwide. On a tangent, when I visited the States it was impossible to get any thing other than black coffee in a milkshake sized container. I drink my coffee this way but not this size. Don’t ask for a “flat white” as you still end up with a milkshake sized black coffee. I have to say that for a coffee aficionado the States is not the place to order coffee.
Doctors seem to ask you what your favorite thing is and then tell you to give it up whenever you are sick. I think it is less science and more change just to see what happens.
All I can say is that unless I reach a state of SFSCL in the morning, I am not a likable person. (That’s Safe-For-Society-Caffeine-Level.) Of course, there are those who say I’m not a likable person anyway. But as long as I’ve my SFSCL, no harm is done.
I worked in construction for many years. A thermos of hot black coffee got me thru many a cold and miserable day. When you’re damp and chilled, that simple cup of joe seems like ambrosia.

Pity the staff that has to work for the ‘no coffee allowed’ boss, especially on the first day.

Just pity the poor meat and potatoes redneck who gets bitten by a tick and gets a severe, life threatening allergy to red meat.
