You know? NOW would be the purrrrrfect time for Gunther’s phone to ring. And he shoves his kittens in Les’ arms with a hearty: “Excuse Les. Watch my kittens for me, will ya? I gotta step outside and take this call!”

Then get in his car and drive STRAIGHT to Bets! ;)

Our family mostly had dogs (and some turtles), so I’m not well versed on taking care of kittens. Is it necessary for a person to be with them all the time? Even puppies can be allowed to spend some time without a person supervising them, if they’re in a safe place…

FOUR. Gunther, FOUR kitties and a geriatric cat! The striped gray one is missing! Moe is probably hiding to get away from kitties. Ya know, he is OLD and wouldn’t want to be bothered with high-energy babies.

Pushy, demanding Al is really starting to get on my nerves. Throw in Les and Ann Eiffel and you’ve got yourself one nasty toxic waste dump. Now would be the time for Gunther and Bets to start spending a lot more time together. Still a university and job openings in Peru.

Does Irma have a job? What’s going to happen when all four of them have to be gone for a while? And they’d better make arrangements to seperate Moe from the kittens because it could get messy otherwise.

And Al, better get at least three litter boxes and several bags of litter. You’ll be buying lots and lots of litter.

This would be a good time for Tiffany and Bets to drop in for a visit. Once they fall in love with the kitties and see the nurturing sides of Les and Gunther, Les will see that the felines are chick magnets. Time to start playing the role, Les, and hit on Tiffany.

Well we’re down to the basics in cats. Black, white and grey.

Grey cat seems to exhibit a need to knead Les’ knees. They appear to be a good match.

I suppose the set up is for a frantic search for striped cat, followed by finding it in a humorous situation.

This is ALL wrong. You don’t buy cats and then expect others to take care of them. Les and Gunther should have put their feet down on this one.

For hundreds of years, the word “adopt” meant legally taking another’s human child and bringing it up as one’s own. Now the word is used for obtaining pets outside our own species.

The kitten/cat arc is generally very cute and when it is featuring Al and Irma…. I am enjoying it.

But, I fear now it will be a return to Unger/Madison bickering and squabbling. I really am not liking Les and Gunther TOGETHER. Each is far more entertaining in their own independent arcs.

I am over analyzing a comic strip, but how old are these kittens supposed to be depicted? Unless the kittens have medical conditions, 24-hour care is usually limited to the first two weeks of life. It is at that young age, kittens are blind, unable to self-groom, on a liquid (milk) diet, and still crawling. Their behavior drawn here suggests much older kittens which I am having trouble reconciling with their care needs Erma described on Saturday’s strip. Mind you, I am basing my comment on my own limited experience raising my own cats from kittens. Luckily, I had their momma cat to help me.

Kittens have no common sense. If they can climb or get into something they will. Then cry because they can’t get themselves out of WHATEVER situation they got themselves into. (stuck on top of the curtains or their head stuck in a tissue box.)

Okay, at the shelter there were FIVE kittens: a white, a black, a gray, a striped, and an orange. Plus Moe, of course. They seem to have only brought home four of the kittens. They seem to be minus the orange kitten. Here, three of the kittens are accounted for, but the striped kitten and Moe don’t seem to be around. I suspect that Moe has found a safe place under the couch or the bed, away from all the hoopla, and the kitten has found a similar safe place to … ahem … do some business. Or s/he has found a nice couch or curtain to claw. Maybe some folks aren’t liking this arc very much, but I kinda do.
