It looks as though Lupin recognises the horror of is posiition. He is going to descend through Kierkegaard’s levels of despair. I said it would all end in tiers.
My wife Marie showed me an Art still of a Breaking Cat News Adventure: The Case of the Missing People! It is coming in October. The Art still shows most of the BCN characters and a whole lot of Racoons who look menacing. The Art still is on Georgia’s BCN Facebook page and Instagram. Sorry, I don’t know how to link to them.
I can’t wait for this adventure! Perhaps we can have Lupin cleaned up by then.
Caught green-handed, as it were. Lupin’s finger painting reminded me of this:
A sentence from the first paragraph of “Pilgrim at Tinker Creek” by Annie Dillard.
“And some mornings I’d wake in daylight to find my body covered with paw prints in blood; I looked as though I’d been painted with roses.”
She’s describing her life in a rural cabin. Her cat, which she describes as “an old fighting Tom,” would go out at night, hunting in the nearby woods, and upon returning, jump through the window as she sleeps, and do the nuzzling and kneading and pressing that cats do.
The idea of waking up, finding red roses tattooed, and coming to the realization of what has happened…
The whole thing is an emblem of Annie Dillard’s quest to wake up, to see the world as it is, and to find it always inexplicable.
OH MY CAT! Lupin, what have you done???!!!! I just hope that is latex paint, which is easier to clean off. I also hope Lupin likes baths, because he’s definitely going to get one.
And, totally off topic, Paul got the last 4 of his top teeth removed and his upper denture fitted yesterday. He looks 20 years younger when he smiles! Now people are definitely going to think I’ve robbed the cradle (I’m 5 years older).
“It’s Pure Paint Pandemonium from up here!! … Tinted Turmoil and Colored Carnage as far as the eye can see!! … I don’t know HOW the People can EVER fix this! …”
“That’s the news for now! Reporting LIVE from Camera One (the ceiling fan) for CN”!!
It shows a picture of a 15th c. manuscript…with cat paws across the page. The cat apparently having stepped in the ink on his way to a comfy sleeping space. An ancestor of Lupin? Or maybe the Cat of Adventure is a time traveler?
I once read about a person who took the doors off the kitchen cabinets and spread them out on the floor so they would be easier to paint. Of course, the kitties ran across them before the paint dried and rather than repaint, the owner just put them back up, prints and all. Now it looks like the cats ran sideways across the cabinets.

It’s not that bad, Lupin. It could be on fire.
Otherwise…uh…well, dang, Lupin. Why don’t we just give you some spray paint and clear the room?

Did Lupin have a blackout? He doesn’t appear to know he did this. Must be the paint smell that gave him amnesia.

Yeah, Lupin, I think the People are going to notice this. Especially on the TV remote. You know how the Woman loves her British mystery shows.

At least there’s some good news – it doesn’t look as if the fuzzy blanket got decorated.

Alas my Lupin you have done a wrong
To run around discourteously;
And paint on thy paws for oh so long
Revealing your company.
Green paint was the floor,
Green paint the sofa too
Green paint all over Pengo
And paws covered in green paint.
Elvis has been ready to report
The disator you have caused the house;
For you have painted both table and carpet
Your paw prints even on Buzzy’s string.
Green paint was the floor,
Green paint the sofa too
Green paint all over Pengo
And paws covered in green paint.

When this adventure ran in its original form, one of the commenters noted this appropriate bit of history:
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/news/2013/3/130326-animals-medieval-manuscript-books-cats-history/
It shows a picture of a 15th c. manuscript…with cat paws across the page. The cat apparently having stepped in the ink on his way to a comfy sleeping space. An ancestor of Lupin? Or maybe the Cat of Adventure is a time traveler?
