I’m not fond of “poor little rich girl” family of humor. Yes she grew up with more than most of us but we all grew up unbelievably wealthy compared to our grandparents and even an American homeless person would be considered well off in many countries around the world. We all have our struggles and comfort zones and a large amount of stress can and does result from being yanked from those comfort zones. Yes Tiffany might grow from the experience but bernice could probably grow from living in Tiffany’s world as well.

Well, well, well, Greg. Resorting to fat jokes to further tear poor Tiffany down. Calling names and using fat jokes is usually an act of desperation when your tanks are running dry. Now that you’ve taken virtually everything away from her, I figure there’s not much left except a reader contest to determine the most grisly demise for her. Whoever she reminds you of must’ve done a real trip on you and you’re getting even through Tiffany.

I hope you don’t drive Tiffany to do something desperate or dark. Then again, the longer you keep her around, the more you can torture her. Greg and his henchperson, Awful Ann. What a pair.

Bernice is not good for her chosen profession. She is too mousey and lacks the personality to advise any students above the 3rd. grade level. Tiff, on the other hand, could be a very interesting and popular sex therapist.

You know, over time, I’ve come to really LIKE Tiffany. It’s time for her luck to change. I’m starting to think that there must have been a real girl in either Greg or Karen’s life that treated him/her badly and so constantly belittling Tiffany is some kind of post-adolescent therapy. TIME TO TURN THE TABLES and make Tiffany the GOOD GUY!

A person doesn’t change instantly, like some books and movies portray… “and she learned her lesson and was never blah blah again…” I think G&K’s portrayal of Tiffany’s slow growth is much more accurate. Yes. We would ALL be depressed if went from all possessions to nothing. She is changing for the better. It just takes time.

In am way of thinking this is actually the best thing that can happen to Tiffany, and in spite of our Teafanny above I think Tiffany will find out how tough she can be, and how not shallow she really is after all. This is a cold slap in the face, but all the tools are there to help her cope, and while I don’t expect her to change overnight, Luannverse will come through, fat jokes notwithstanding.

    Okay.

Remember when Bets first met Tiff last Summer? And after Bets laid eyes on her, she couldn’t believe Tiff was a model? And do you recall that Tiffany felt insulted over that? That’s pretty much what’s going on here. Bernice, meant nothing by it, but Tiffany, understandability, took it the WRONG way. But Bernice has Zero TACT. Which is why, if you want to be “comforted?” DON’T-GO-TO-BERNICE!

“Bernice.” Like Luann, I wonder how Bernice would do if she walked a mile in Tiffany’s pumps? Based on past “Bernice Dramas,” NOT Well.

So. Next week, back to Luann and the wonderful world of a “Teacher’s Assistant?” After Tiffany’s “Never ending Traumas” I’m almost looking forward to it. :)

I’m proud of Berniece here!!! She really didn’t mean it THAT way, Tiffany. I think she really was speaking about you as a person not physically and she is giving you a compliment. But I do find it so sad that Tiffany says she feels her life keeps getting smaller. It’s not her life that’s getting smaller it’s just her material possessions. Tiffany, you are learning to travel light—-and that’s a good thing. The most important things in life are carried in the heart not the hands.

I think Tiffany should move back to her dad’s home and save money. With such a huge room/area she would rarely have to see Ann. In real life a woman like Ann would NOT want any offspring around to intrude into her love nest. She would not be able to treat Tiffany so poorly in front of Tom.

Tiff: Your world isn’t getting smaller. You’re finally living in your own world instead of your father’s world. He didn’t make his fortune at your age (and if he had money then, it was from his parents). You should expect it to take some time before you can truly get by on your own.

Okay, maybe things look a little bleak for Tiffany… She’s lost her father and everything that came with him, including the dorm room that he helped set her up in. And all because of Ann Eiffel.

But this is actually a blessing in disguise. As she becomes accustomed to this new lifestyle, she’ll save money. And by saving money, she’ll be able to relax. and by relaxing, she’ll be able to focus on her studies. Before she knows it, she’ll have her business diploma, and be able to focus on her TiffasNails business. And with no help from her idiot father.

Ann Eiffel, however, does not appreciate hard work. She expects the world to pamper her at her beck and call. She has no conscience. She abandoned her son because raising a child was too much work for her. Conning people is as close to work as she wants to get.

It will be just a matter of time before Tom Farrell realizes that the daughter he turned his back on was right about Ann all along. When that happens, he will probably need Tiffany to support him, because he’ll be broke.

It’s weird that despite my normal loathing of Bernice, I’m not really reading anything negative into that last comment of hers. I don’t think she was trying to make a comment about TIFF’s weight, and Tiff is being unreasonable by acting like she did. Yes, the phrasing is a bit awkward, but that’s due to the writers stretching credulity in order to set up Wacky Misunderstandings (though not nearly as overly-contrived as the time Nancy referred to herself having a kink in her neck as “I feel kinky” just so Frank could get all horny. That one was just flat-out stupid.)

Anyway, I never thought I’d be saying this, but: ease off Bernice a bit. She’s trying to help.

Monday’s strip sees Luann continuing with date-pic dates. We see her meeting a nice looking fellow named Stuart. Stuart relates that he is recently returning to the dating scene after a nasty breakup. His tanned complexion and swimmer’s physique seem vaguely familiar… then it hits her. It’s STUART! The, then 21 tear old lifeguard that revived Luann with mouth to mouth and she fell head over heel in love with him. She was sixteen. Then this happened: https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2001/06/13

Will our intrepid eponymous Luann rekindle the fire with someone five years her senior? Will Stuart get the “dessert” she promised him? Tune in Monday, hopefully.

BTW. The whole Stuart rescues drowning Luann arc starts here: https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2000/07/03

Decision time. Learning to accept some pain in life is not such a bad thing. Going back home for a moment maybe a good thing. Sure that dragon will try to roast you alive. You’ll come out scorched a bit. But you’ll live well otherwise and goto school as needed. Plus watching their run-ins here and there is fun. And who knows, maybe that old bat will fly the away one day for other victims. Nothing lasts forever, we’d assume. They ain’t married…yet. But stranger things have happened.
