Nushi and Kira have been chasing each other around the house a lot lately and it is a delight to watch. Nushi has gained another 1/2 pound this month but still looks long and lean! She is now 7.65 pounds. A far cry from the 4.3 she was in June. If it wasn’t for her scars you would have no idea how sick she was! I would like to see more proof of increased strength in her back legs, but it may just be taking a while for all pathways to heal.
So 1 of the 3 months post-treatment is done (as of 11/4)! So thankful to all!!!!
Did you know we are running out of helium and that it’s a big deal!? I didn’t until recently. Helium is non-renewable and rare on earth and it is used in many ways including in MRI machines, some super computers and rocket ships! Who knew?
I will make sure to treasure it the next time I sing “The Lollipop Guild” under its influence.
Hey cat19632001— how do you feel about panel 4’s “side view” of Pucky? I’m liking it more with each viewing (but still not as cute as the back of Lupin’s head!)
Whoa, buddy. Elvis looks a lot like Lupin watching a candle flame. Does he have a history of eating dying balloons? Or is Puck just drawing a logical conclusion from the way Elvis keeps trying to eat plants?
I’m thinking if there’s enough left, the Woman and the Man need to take one last hit of the helium so they can amuse the Toddler and Baby with squeaky voices.
The image of the red balloon in panel one made me think of a particular “Peanuts” strip. Those familiar with certain Stephen King movies and one of his books will know why.
Schmutz (so named because he has a dark spot on his pink nose) loves balloons, and receives one every year for his birthday. He carries it from room to room with the string in his mouth. Reels it in, then lets it float back upwards. Entranced that gravity works backwards in this one situation.
All my lovely black and yellow Garden Spiders have succumbed to old age. But I have two egg cases on my front porch, I’m hoping they will hatch in the spring, and I’ll have the next generation to watch and admire.
Love today’s comic, sounds like a real-life event in Georgia’s family! I have a question to pose to all of you in our Mega-Orb for support. Have you experienced or heard of Feline Hyperesthesia? My baby, “Kitten,” (not a kitten- 12yo) is terrified of his tail on occasion and has had episodes of trying to run away from it off and on for his entire life. Every vet I’ve gone to cannot give me advice or even seems to acknowledge this is a real thing. I’ve noticed over the years that it seems to be tied to stress and my baby is currently being treated with antibiotics and pain medication for not eating because of a lump in his jaw. His appetite has returned, thank goodness, however, his fear of his tail has gone into overdrive. We go back to the vet next Saturday to see if he needs x-rays and/or dental work and I have video’d Kitten in distress to show the vet. When I talked to the vet technician, she seems to think the behavior is feline dementia due to his age which I do not believe because it has been happening for so long. Has anyone experienced this? Kitten comes to me for comfort and I have a special towel with which I cover his tail for relief, but it seems to be getting worse.
“… it’s been on the ceiling longer than some of us have been alive.”
And will remain as waste on the ground even longer, Elvis. Plus, in the process, it will have lost to Earth’s atmosphere an increasingly rare and precious gas (au contraire, not air, Lupin) of ever-dwindling supply — all in the name of fleeting fun.
Funny! I still have a red bit of paint on the ceiling of my greenhouse from a Mylar balloon trying to live a bit longer in the heat.
Sadly, I have learned to despise balloons, particularly balloon release balloons. Nothing says this is a happy event or a sad rememberance like releasing balloons who will become litter or death to marine life.
I wonder what Elvis would sound like with a lungful of helium? Would his epic Siamese rants sound even more spectacular? Would Burt record it for posterity and use it to overdub a certain over-serious colleague, say, when said colleague was taking himself Way Too Seriously? ;)
I wonder if it’s still got enough pressure inside to seriously hurt Elvis if Puck can’t stop him from his own bad idea? Hope not, hope it’s just enough to startle him but not hurt him.
Hubby and I frequently stay with our best friends who have a large log cabin with a cathedral ceiling. One evening we brought home a Mylar balloon to their house after a family birthday party. Their 12 cats were fascinated, and it escaped my hand. It stayed up in the ceiling for several years, moving along with the ceiling fan breezes and taunting their cats. Fun!
This is SO funny! Each panel brings a huge smile to my face. First panel with balloon featuring crossed out eyes and tongue lolling out—-third panel with Elvis announcing " it’s been on ceiling longer than some of us have been alive" —A Print Worthy comic!

Our local “99-cent Only” store is in what was a beautiful old theater, and if you look up you see dozens of balloons pressed against the balcony roof.

Whose artistic skills are responsible for the initial balloon rendering? Sophie didn’t sign it so we know it’s not her. I’m thinking it’s Puck.

Looks like Elvis is going to have some stiff competition from his Baby Girl for that balloon.

I’ve never had a helium balloon in this apartment. We’ve never had reason to. Maybe for my 65th or Paul’s 60th, well get one and kerfuffle Yum Yum.

I used to work as a clown delivering balloon bouquets. It’s amazing the look of pure joy on a one year old’s face when they see the balloons floating.

Helium filled regular balloons are the saddest as they deflate fairly quickly and get all wrinkly like a hundred year old man!
