I don’t think that those kittens are going anywhere, and it will be the brooding Les who takes them in. Gunther is still too shallow with his sewing and Star Trek games and comic conventions. He needs a few more years….that, or he knocks up Bets. Then their world will change radically.
Amazing how one the one box Uncle Al brought them in turned into 600 square feet of cat castle! That aside… It looks like the kitties will have to STAY.
Les will decide to adopt Punk. Gunther will adopt a kitten also. Uncle Al will then decide that the tiny house is not suitable for pets and ask the boys to leave.
What a problem. If there are no more usable boxes the kittens will have to stay there. Or at least, I hope the little gray one remains attached on Les.
Well, with no portable box to take them to the adoption center, will the kittens now have a permanent home in their castle? Gunth and Les would become loyal subjects.
Are they going to act like not having a two-foot-square cardboard box handy is a serious problem? You can put them in a pillow case. Or run to the supermarket and ask for a box. But I’ll bet this is going to be used as an excuse to not take them to the adoption center.
I agree the kittens are staying, particularly Punk. I do wish the girls, both,Bets and Tiffany, would somehow show up. But I think that is another arc.
True story. One day we went shopping at Spag’s and there was a child outside with. A box of kittens. When we came out, there was only one kitten left. We got ‘Mittens’ AND the box.
When I was a kid, my aunt ran a boarding kennel for dogs. When she had an additional building put up to house felines, my father remarked, “oh, so you’re running a cathouse now?” My mother smacked him in the shoulder, and I didn’t get the joke until years later.
Les should consider going to college and become a “Packaging Major”. This is a real thing…. and leads to some pretty lucrative ($$$) careers. A “Packaging Major” typically learns about methods and theories on how to package a variety of consumer goods.
I suggest this because of how HUGE a cat castle Les made from one box. :)
I hope someone is smart enough to come up with an excuse for the gray one to stay. Les might not be able to ask to keep it, but he is obviously that kitten’s chosen and also crazy about it.
Gunther has a Bets pet. Les needs a pet too. Will the kittens leave tomorrow? Mewling pitifully? If Les is in a blue funk, who will show up at the door on Saturday? [Insert strident Hammond organ chord here!]
Still … Les, you did a good thing even though they were bugging you. I stand by what I said yesterday, maybe Al can see the potential here for a money making venture.
Les begs Irma to keep Punk. For some reason, the fostering agreement doesn’t allow foster parents to keep their charges, so all of the kittens are being returned.
Les follows Al and Irma to the pet rescue, and begs the workers to adopt Punk. They tell him that they can’t adopt out the kittens immediately, there’s paperwork, processing, spay/neuter, microchipping still to be done, and he can check back in a week.
Les doesn’t want to wait a week… he’s worried that someone else will arrive earlier than he does (he’d still be at work) and they’d adopt Punk before he has a chance, so he concocts a plan… to steal Punk back.
Les talks to TJ at Kafe Kablooie, and together, they hatch a crazy plan.
They buy black coveralls and ski masks, and bring a ladder and they sneak over to the pet rescue at night. They get on the roof, and TJ’s lockpicking skills get the skylight open.Les rappels through the open skylight into the building. He searches frantically, whispering, “Punk? Punk? Daddy’s here to save you!” After searching room after room, he hears a familiar “Meow?”
Les finds Punk, but the cage door is locked! He calls for TJ to come down and pick the lock.
Les jams Punk into his coveralls, and leaves an envelope with $100 on the desk and he and TJ climb back up to the roof. In the meantime, the sleepy security guard notices some suspicious behavior and calls the cops.
Les and TJ get busted, and once Les explains what he’s doing, they call Uncle Al, who uses his influence to get Les and TJ freed with no charges.
Al, recognizing that Punk can he a humanizing influence on his nephew, allows Les to keep Punk, informing him that “We shall not speak of this again.”
I am kind of surprised that they would expect to take those somewhat slightly more grown kitties back in the same box they were brought in. One would think that the chances of one or more jumping out and running off might be fairly high. However, it would be funny watching Al in his suit and black wingtips and Irma in her dress and high heels chasing them all over the neighborhood. Hilarity ensues?
.
We already saw what Luann, Quilly, Gunther, and Rosa looked like in their prom dresses and tuxedos when the limo broke down and they had to climb fences, run across a pasture, evade Ferdinand the bull, outrun a speeding locomotive, and a tractor carrying a mad farmer with his loaded shotgun. Kind of like a cross between the last scene in Les Misérables where they are all waving tattered flags, shotguns, and wearing their best rags, and the Australian movie, “Dead End Drive – In”.
It’s like the story of the 2 small fish and the loaves, where they were multiplied into enough food for a large crowd. Leslie managed to turn the one little box into many boxes.
Wait a minute. Yesterday the tower with the crenelation was on their right and had a Micky Mouse door. Today our vantage point is still the same but the tower no longer has a Micky Mouse door.
No Ima, the kittens aren’t weaned yet, and they’re not ready to go anywhere! You ought to know, because your son Gunther still isn’t weaned! And yes, your name is now Ima, because Greg Evans came up with Irma for you and Irma simply isn’t ugly enough, LOL

Les has cleverly arranged it so that the kittens can’t easily be taken away. Even if he doesn’t realize that’s what he did.

Yes, Al. Les, built that cathouse, all by his lonesome, because he was “angry.”
Why don’t you give your nephew a decent job with your shady construction outfit(s)?
And by the way.
Are you and the “Mrs” KEEPING Moe, without have the common decency to ask the lads if “THEY” want to keep a kitten? After all, THEY did MOST of the work. :)

How to stretch this into a 2-week arc:
Les begs Irma to keep Punk. For some reason, the fostering agreement doesn’t allow foster parents to keep their charges, so all of the kittens are being returned.
Les follows Al and Irma to the pet rescue, and begs the workers to adopt Punk. They tell him that they can’t adopt out the kittens immediately, there’s paperwork, processing, spay/neuter, microchipping still to be done, and he can check back in a week.
