This cat looks more like it was named after President James Garfield.

True story: I partially learned to read on my mom’s Garfield comic strip collections. Mom eventually took them away from me because I was learning behavior and attitude from Garfield as well – not a fantastic role model for a three- or four-year-old! (Also, I may have colored Garfield orange – by which I mean, “scribbled on Garfield in crayon” – in a few books.)

I didn’t get those books back until my age was in double digits.

The last panel shows Garfield IRL, not living up to his fan photos. Odie, on the other paw, looks much more stable than his comic version.

So is that last panel a depiction of how Georgia imagines the “real” Garfield, Pooky and Odie would look?

My grandniblings loved to watch Wallace and Gromit, over and over … I really should have left well enough alone, but I wanted to share a few other favorites — Rugrats, Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls — but nothing else appealed to them until I put Spongebob Squarepants in the player. There ought to be a warning label for that little yellow menace …

Off-topic, but I know y’all understand these things.

I thought I was going to have another Skywalker situation yesterday. Maurice, one of the colony kittens, fell off the roof! (Yes, he has siblings named Barry and Robin.) He was going to jump to the banister on the back porch for supper & something went wrong in his jump. I don’t know if he miscalculated or twisted wrong or what happened, but he missed the porch – although he did hit his head on the banister as he went past to the ground.He bounced back up immediately & ran up the steps to demand food, so I think he’s okay, but I’m keeping an eye on him just in case. Any prayers and/or good thoughts you could send his way would be greatly appreciated.

That is a really good special. I love how Georgia drew the toy and real life Garfield and Odie. I can tell that is an older toy Garfield.

Off topic, Paul still has trouble swallowing. He has a fluoroscopy in Toronto on Tuesday and we will see how things go from there. Hopefully we will see an uphill turn.

Ah yes, the age old problem of kids watching a film again, and again, and again, and again…

Its because of that problem that I can no longer stand to watch Disney’s Tarzan anymore. Saw it one time too many, I suppose.

One of my favorite Garfield specials!

Massive squee for retired Garfield and Odie!! This is genius.

One if the few bumper stickers I liked was “Garfield in trunk.” Sometimes they came with tails that stuck out.

You can say a lot of things against VHS but the tapes DID wear out eventually. :)

Probably wait a few years to show them the Garfield Halloween special. It’s actually rated as one of the best, but also scariest, kid’s Halloween cartoons out there.

Today is noteworthy for three reasons:

1. Daylight “Savings” Time started at 2:00 AM. I want my hour back! With interest!

2. It is International Women’s Day. Figures that THEY (THEY know who THEY are, and we wish we didn’t.) would short the women’s day an hour. Ladies, you should demand equal time!

3. Today is Proofreading Day. Any and all errors in this post are not my fault. It has been poofread and edited by three experts. (Never mind that they are cats. Their grammar and spelling are purrfect, just ask them.)

Cool to see how Garfield looks in Georgia Dunn’s style. It would be interesting to see how other cartoon cats look Breaking Cat News style, such as Sylvester, Top Cat, Tom (from Tom and Jerry), Hobbes, Scratchy (from Itchy and Scratchy), and the cast of Ten Cats.

VERY few St. Patrick’s specials out there. A little surprised the Peanuts specials didn’t have one (at least as far as I’m aware they didn’t) as they had so many holiday specials. I actually consider The Leprechaun’s Christmas Gold more a St. Patrick’s special than a Christmas special

I wonder if we’re going to celebrate St. Catty’s Day this year.

Garfield was pretty good before it became manufactured in a factory.

Back in the dark ages – my Monday morning t-shirt for college was Garfield in his bed with a speech bubble saying “I think I’ll got to class today. I need the sleep”. I had a Bart Simpson Tee for later in the week. :)

Perhaps the Secret of Kells for ST. Patrick’s day? Not sure if it’s age appropriate (seems like more of a pre tween and older kind of movie). It does have some scary parts. But who can resist the magic of Pangur Ban and Aisling and how brave Brendan and Aisling are. And their life long friendship. ::sigh::
