It’s an Easter miracle. Shannon is interacting with the dog and is not actively involved in destroying something.

Well Shannon, a lot of ‘Adults’ don’t know what Easter’s all about, too.

And don’t get Me started on Christmas.

1 of 4 (out of 12) of my comics today referencing “Easter” — all about the bunny and/or the egg, though. Way to go, Christians, letting your most holy holidays get commercialized (and trivialized.)

Well, Shannon, Easter is based on the ancient pagan holiday of Ostara or Ēostre and is named for the Germanic goddess of that name. It is in part a fertility festival, and the eggs are a symbol of that.

Hey it’s all good! The important thing is that Jesus gave us the greatest gift. He died for our sins so that we might have Eternal Life and he was resurrected to show that he has dominion over death, Hell and the grave. Just as the earth resurrects and springs forth with new life after the sleep of winter so are our souls resurrected in heaven when we die. I personally am awed by Christ’s sacrifice, not only to take on human form and live as one of us and try to teach us a good and peaceful way of life, but to sacrifice himself and experience all the bad things to save us. That kind of love is a rare and precious gift! And BTW I also plan to color eggs and eat a bit of chocolate today as well. Such symbols are only what you make of them. Enjoy the gift of life today everyone. Happy Easter and Happy Spring!!! Enjoy that egg Puddles——once it is peeled. And if Brad wants to be helpful he will explain things to Shannon.

I suppose all the hubbub herein about “Will Brad and Toni adopt Shannon?” has died, and now we are supposed to assume that she is just a part of their household. Probably Jonah has joined Quill, Delta, etc., in having vanished from the strip, and we’re supposed to forget that he ever existed. Then Brad and Toni can take over from Frank and Nancy in being the “parents” in the Sunday strip who complain about their “daughter” (note that they already have Puddles!), and like Frank and Nancy they too will play less of a role in the weekday stories.

    G. & K.’s refusal to allow Puddles to evolve into a realistic dog the way the humans have long ago ceased to be ’toons is mystifying. He resembles a stuffed plaything that actually lives and breathes, and it comes across (to me, anyway) as a little creepy.

My dad was a Scout leader, and his scout troop met in our huge back yard in the Scout Hut. My dogs were the scout mascots. A young cousin was really close to my golden retriever so he’s always get his scent all over the “flag” in Capture the Flag. He’d tell Molly to find the flag, and she’d take him directly to it. His team would win every time. Surprisingly, no one figured out what he was doing.

It’s a source of wintery satisfaction, to some, that quarrels over when to celebrate Easter were among the bitterest disputes in the early history of Christianity. Indeed, over whether to celebrate it—every Sunday commemorates the resurrection, as every Friday commemorates the crucifixion, and it makes no theological sense to single out an extra-special Sunday. But mere humans do love an anniversary, which bowled over theological reservations.

a fertility festival to celebrate the arrival of spring appropriated by Christians so it would be easier for them to convert pagans, despite contradicting scriptural dictates not to celebrate “heathen” holidays. I’d much rather just keep it as the chocolate egg time thank you.

The meaning of Easter: Jesus dies on the cross and three days later he rises from the dead and emerges from the holy sepulchre. If he sees his shadow, there are six more weeks of bad weather.

The coronavirus lockdown started on the 26th of March, 2020. It’s interesting that the Bible verse, Isaiah 26:20 says: “Go home my people and lock your doors. Hide yourselves for a little while until the Lord’s anger has passed.” The day and year corresponds with the verse 26:20. Is that just an eerie coincidence, or was it inspired at least 2700 years ago to correspond with what is happening today? It isn’t the first, and won’t be the last “coincidence” that has happened in the Bible.
