Ah. So they ARE renting out the room, after all. What a “surprise.” (Rolls Eyes) And with Lu’s description, it’s probably gonna end up being some guy.

It might even be Doug or Skyler, Luann’s failed date pic dates. Or maybe even Quill.

Now, if it’s a good looking guy, We’ll be treated to Luann’s patented “You gonna trust, Me to handle myself,” speech to her parents, who will undoubtably CAVE.

One thing for sure. EVERYBODY quickly abandoned their ideas for their OWN personal space in that room.

If Luann wants a room with privacy to maybe bring a date, maybe she should find her own place.

If that room HAS to be rented, I hope it’s to a totally new character. Not Tiffany or Tara; both of them hate Luann…

Well, I for one would like to see a new character, not someone recycled from the past, most of whom I presume were written out of the strip for a reason.

Here’s a thought, Toni and Brad (finally) give TJ the boot and TJ rents the room and quickly drives everyone bonkers.

The rent received pays for Luann’s Education! Luann is motivated. The AD is assuming that the next renter is a Guy. I bet that Tara will respond to the Advertisement. Crystal is a community college student and be interesting and funny. Tiffany is on a different path than Luann. If strip wants an interesting plot, let’s move TJ in. A new character would be an employee who works at the Fuze.

Looks like the Tiff Moving Into DeGroots House fans might be right. Tiff sees the AD and calls…realizes it’s Luann. I still say she will refuse and decline but there’s possible there’ll be some kind of story happening.

Did Tiffany failed at the University and needs to downsize? Maybe attend Community College?

Of course another possible scenario is Toni has news for us and TJ could be looking for another room.

Luann’s inability to ‘read’ most situations is what keeps her from moving forward in life. Some call it ‘falling asleep on yourself’.

What part of “hilarity ensues” don’t people understand about this strip? It frankly is a bit aggravating the hate that the namesake character gets from too many old codger farts in this blog. This is drawn to be funny, and she is drawn to be the central character in the strip. and she is a character in a strip, not somebody’s idea of failed “these kids today syndrome.” Visit that on your own kids! Luann is joking around with her parents, who are acting as loving parents do, in an obvious arc event, which will result in another hilarious but character developing story. I won’t rant on this again but hate projection against the reason the creator created this strip, I thought we loved to follow, is getting tiresome.

I think Tiffany could be a candidate. She currently has issues with Rah Rah Steph and perhaps would not mind getting out from that fishbowl which is AKA as Bernice’s floor in the dorm. Since she works at the Fuse, perhaps she can make an arrangement with the DeGroots….. Perhaps Jack or the goth might inquire as well. The goth will definitely freak out the parents, kind of like how the parents of my generation could not get Robert Smith of the Cure, punk rock or my sister intentionally bleaching and tearing a new pair of Levi’s to attain that “grunge” look which was pretty ****ing cool IMHO as there was a gap between “The Greatest Generation” like my parents and late Baby Boomer/GenXers like me and my sister just as now The Boomers and us GenXers are trying to figure out Millennials!

I read Luann daily, but extremely rarely comment (who cares, right?). Most others have the opinion section covered, anyway. But the latest character departure triggered a thought about the whereabouts of “JayBlue”. I think it’s been at least a year, probably going on two, since a post with his name last appeared. Just curious.

What is Evans doing with all the characters in this strip? They’ve all become so unpleasant lately.

They need the cash to pay for their slacker daughter’s college.

I’ve got the feeling, we will see Tiff move in.

Greg will give the readers one of two extremes. Either the new character will be some extremely wise and woke minority of an alternate lifestyle or the new character will be some evil capitalist who believes in those wicked things of life, liberty, and American traditions.

Brava Luann! The second AD is almost a perfect description! I’m more and more sure Tara will the one end up as new renter. She need a better place to stay instead of one with troublesome roommates. Living with the Degroots will be good for her.

Last week, this arc appeared to be an overly ceremonious departure for a character whose only purpose in the strip had been two jokes, both the same: To the boy in question, “I’m gay.”

This week, the same arc now appears to be a cheap shot at hinting there’s a new character around the corner.

Kind of a further insult to Pru: G&K appear to have said, “Get out! We need to save your ink for someone new!”

I enjoy this back-and-forth between Luann and her parents.

They can use the income.

After all this time, you’d think Luann would understand that being presumptuous leads to her getting humiliated.

Note to all We all get wrapped up in a story or its characters at times. Our own comments are sometimes misunderstood. {Inflections are hard to type.} Or we get trolled and spun up by some of the commenters. {And we all know who they are ;o ) } But that’s the point of a well written story isn’t it; to draw readers/viewers into the story and its characters.

Will Rick help Ilsa and Victor escape Morocco? Did Rick and Ilsa spend one last night of illicit passion in that face to black scene? In the end, will Ilsa abandon her husband for her star-crossed lover, Rick, or return to the role of heroic Victor’s dutiful wife? But most of all, will Sam play it again? d8^ D

Let’s see. First the DeGroots had the renter from heaven with Pru. Maybe next they’ll have the renter from Hades. If you rent out something sooner or later you’ll get one of those. All you can hope for is that the bad renter will be bad and not a horrendous nightmare. Given the nature of this cartoon (and its a cartoon I really like), that isn’t going to happen.

I’ll jump into all of the speculation and will throw in one for fun. How about a blast from the past and have the application come in the form of Aaron or one of Luann’s other past crushes?

Luanne’s way off on her ‘grumpy’ count. I read about the first 50 of the 200 plus comments on the strip, and the ‘grumpy’ percentage was running about 80%.

Luan1212: save your breath. The regulars on this thread overthink everything, and seem to think that the strip is some sort of allegory and/or cautionary tale that, like an icon in Church, is speaking directly to them personally. They remind me of the soap-opera mavens who write letters to the characters, giving advice and warning about approaching trouble and suggesting names for the unborn baby.

Maybe “Piro”, who is always search for a place to crash.

Ask yourself – who pays the bills, Luann. Those are the people you should respect and be kind to. They aren’t obligated to pay for your college. If you don’t like the environment, get out, get a job, and pay your own way.
