Kale AND spinach in one salad? Vegan lasagna? What? I think I missed something. How long has Frank been Vegan?

Frank is " the Frugal Vegan Gourmet Chef ", the secret job?

As we previously discussed, there are lots of interesting plot lines regarding Nancy in the Fuze. But GnK gives us vegan lasagna and said? Oh please!

Nuke ’n puke is better than scarf ’n…you know.

I can’t wait for Luann’s turn. Neither can Frank.

Where is Puddles?

Dad served two meals. Take it leave it. No substitutes.

So if Frank is capable of whipping up a great meal, why hasn’t he bothered to do his share of the meal-making all these years?

So, if Frank is such a competent chef after all, why was he whining last week about “who will cook, clean and do laundry?” and this week, “what about us?”

Out of the 3, cooking is the hardest. Any person of normal intelligence can learn to do laundry and use a vacuum, cleaner.

At least the infighting is out. Improvement.

Panel #2, Frank compliments himself with a praise. Panel #3, Luann is thinking that Frank is trying to con Nancy with an “attaboy”.

I suppose some people like this menu, so I won’t say anything negative about it. I’ll just quietly wait for the chocolate cake, thank you.

Kale is awesome. Especially when it’s cooked in bacon grease. I keep a jar of bacon grease in the fridge just for that purpose. And… also adding a tablespoon of it in the recipe for chocolate chip cookies. It adds a richness and slight smokiness to the cookies. Don’t laugh. I gave them to my co-workers, and they really liked my chocolate chip cookies with bacon.

Oh well, with meat and pork products about to become in short supply due to plant closings, We should ALL get used to such (SHUDDER) “meals.”

Fortunately, no Klingons will be invited! :)

“You wanna impress mom!”

Shhhhh. Mom’s cooking is best. Dad has a good thing going. Don’t ruin it for him. ;-)

It’s easy to upgrade kale. Even spinach will do it, though just barely. But does Frank have to cook it?

That smile is gonna drop off Luann’s face pretty quickly once she realizes she’s gotta do the dishes tonight.

Frank is not letting Luann know that the lady next door dropped it off while Luann was in the bathroom. She overheard the conversation earlier, and felt sorry for them.

You know, instead of this we could’ve had a week of Nancy meeting her employees for the first time ever. “Yes, I do actually own this establishment with my husband. Pardon me, I am off to tend the bar, for all the customers. Who I’m sure will be arriving. Yep. Any minute now. Come on, I wanna make a mai tai!”

Unfortunately, Nancy becomes fatigued from the vitamin B12 deficiency caused by Frank’s new vegan menu.

They are not vegan. But the mom has been cooking what she believes will be healthy for them now that he is older. The joke is that Luann and Frank find it unappealing with Luann able to skip going out with Friends for pizza while he is forced to eat it.

Good and bad news. Frank can cook but he has brain problems. He is trying to impress his wife, yes, but considering the menu he obviouly believes he’s in FoxTrot, not Luann.

God, she’s disrespectful!

BUSTED! Frank, you… lovable man♡! There is nothing wrong to want to impress your wife. I like this so much! The interactions between father and daughter are so good and fun. I love how, in the last panel, Luann point at Frank and Frank point at Luann’s dish. And, obviously, I love the expressions too♡.

Only in the Luanniverse would a Vegan Lasagna Rock.

I would never eat vegan food. I’ll never soil my tastebuds with that garbage.

I think Luann has put her finger on Frank’s basic motivation, which proves she has empathy (not necessarily big in young adults) and knows the relationship of her parents (something that children know whether it’s a good or bad one). And trying to impress Nancy is a good thing. What will happen when Luann tries to “impress” her parents when her term comes tomorrow? I get shade when I use my usual “trope” so I will write it should be goofy, funny, and sweet.

in my house I, the guy, am the cook. My wife is the sort of ‘commits ’ dinner rather than makes it. She proudly says she comes from 4 generations of women who don’t cook. afterr 20+ she can occassionally make dinner but my cooking ability is one thing that snagged her and my father in law see’s me as a kindred spirit.

Hmmm…we occasionally eat a meatless and dairyless meal but we’d never think of it as purposely vegan. But Luann’s use of the term has me wondering…

Nancy was the one who did the grocery shopping so nutrition was on her mind first; she must have even bought some vegan cheese (but I do remember all those Oreos Brad stuffed into his mouth in an earlier time). Nancy and Frank are depicted as being from the flower power generation; veganism falls in with that. But yes, I think he wants to impress Nancy and Luann too who kept praising her. Humans are strange and competitive creatures. Frank is full of surprises. And if he wants Nancy to be impressed he will have made enough for her to have when she gets home.

If it’s vegan, then the lasagna wouldn’t have any cheese in it, so I’m wondering what he used instead.

you can make a very nice “meatless” lasagna with the newest plant-based meat substitutes. Fake cheese is a different thing tho .. haven’t found one yet that has either good taste or texture.

Luann depends on her dad too much to be digging for ulterior motives, just so she can criticize him. “Thanks for the great dinner, dad, I’ll shut up now!” would have been sufficient.

I eat vegetarian three or four days a week because of my health. Frozen veggie burgers aren’t bad if you pile enough on the burger to pretend it’s a meat burger. Vegan is only accidental since it’s hard to get enough protein. Meat I can live without if pushed to, but dairy and eggs. Nope. You would have to pry my cheddar cheese omelets out of my cold dead hands.

Nice pinky point Frank. Really, I don’t know how this character can get any more annoying. Before he was selfish, immature and babyish and now he’s self righteous. Maybe Nancy will meet a nice man at work who doesn’t have so many issues. She deserves better.

In Salt Lake City, one can get a 12 oz. drink made of juiced kale with garlic. It is surprisingly good.

BTW, I forgot to mention it … did anyone else see the “grumpy face” in the flower on Frank’s apron in the last panel yesterday? ( it wasn’t there in the earlier panels, so may have represented Greg’s response to Luann’s imitation).

Frank will not be hired as a chef for Sisyphos! Let the Vegans eat vegan. The Hu-Mans are omnivorous.

Whoever introduced Kale to the American diet ought should be tarred and feathered.
