At least be in the ringside and support your pal Tommy, Sophie. And yeah, distract his opponent and hit his opponent with a steel chair when the referree isn’t watching!
The doctor’s office called yesterday to ask if we would agree to a “virtual” appointment with our doctor. Paul was sleeping, but I readily agreed to it to spare him any discomfort.
Today is the official release of Take It Away, Tommy. My copy has gone out for delivery and it should show up at my house today sometime. I was also planning on going to my local independent book store to get a copy once it was out and donate it to my vet’s office and also probably get one for a local little free library like I have done in the past, but that is on hold for now since the book store is closed and I couldn’t bring the book to the vet even if I could get it. I could drop one off at the little free library, but that will have to wait too.
Sophie seems to be getting swept up in the tide of everyone’s good cheer – I think she’s about to discover a whole clowder of good-natured cats, eager to include her as another friend. (If this goes well, it could trigger a breakthrough, and some cat-tastic art!)
OT – my travel update. so the last time I wrote, i was headed to England and then a tour of the USA. well, that didn’t come off at all because of this virus. I cancelled the England trip (thankfully took out the insurance) ‘cause I was afraid to be on a plane for all those hours with so many people from who knows where. So, I decided to visit my cousin in FL and thought I could still see some of the US after that. Well, that went out the window too and didn’t know where to go or what to do. (i didn’t have an apartment in NJ or a job anymore). My friends were telling me not to return to NJ so my sisters came to the rescue and are letting me stay in Momma’s house in Sulphur Springs, TX. Thank God they hadn’t packed up or sold the house yet. So I guess I’m hunkerin’ down here for the duration of this evil virus. And actually, I might find a place of my own in the area afterwards……that part of the plan needs more prayer and thought. I still want to see the country and travel, but it feels good to have somewhere to call home.
My copy of Take it Away, Tommy just arrived!!!! Oh, my Cat. So excited. I only looked at a few of the back pages. Tillie!!!!! You’ve all seen the front cover, so adorable with Sophie and Tommie. The back cover has my beloved robber mice.
Today is the day! “Take It Away, Tommy!” is officially released, and hopefully if you have pre-ordered it is arriving or on its way to you! If you have not ordered your copy yet, you can find it here: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/1524858188/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 or through your local bookstore’s online orders.
I hope that this book can be a comfort and a place to find laughs right now in these hard times. Join me on my Facebook page live today at noon Pacific time, and I will talk a little bit about the book and some plans I have in the next few days to do some live drawing/painting for you all.
I will still be working at noon Pacific time, but I know in the past her Facebook live videos were available to watch later too, so I know what I am going to be doing tonight.
Today is Crayon Day! I loved (still do) crayons as a child. One of the highlights of the beginning of the school year was the new box of crayons. The colors always seemed so vibrant and inspiring. And the delightful smell! (Was probably deadly. Que Robin.) Even as an adult I’ve been known to buy them on occasion, even after my kids were grown just because they were so pretty.
You can also make some interesting art by melting them, as I discovered when I was a little older.
Unfortunately, in my life they were replaced by colored pencils because they were more precise. For awhile as a child I was very into “color by number” things. Ah, the simple joys!
Let’s hear it for crayons, often a child’s first introduction to art. I bet Sophie has her own box.
Dont remember if I posted about this here, so I apologize if I’m repeating. It just struck me as being so silly I had to share it. Had a voicemail from my dermatologist’s office. Had an appointment for the annual head-to-toe checkup of my various sun spots (yes, guilty of sun worship in a skimpy bathing suit a few decades back, and I do regret it). The voice informed me that they were not currently seeing patients in the office but I could do a televisit if I wanted to. What am I supposed to do, take my clothes off and scan the cell phone over my body? I can’t even reach some of those spots! I’ll just reschedule later!
Happy “Take It Away, Tommy!” day, everyone!!! Our third BCN book has officially been released today! You can find it through your local bookstore, many have set up ways to order online! Wishing you all a lot of comfort and good health right now!
I had forgotten that the oh-so-wonderful Hallowe’en Special which features Tillie begins with Fuzzy Blanket Season. I so love that story. Even if my old eyes get blurry when I read it. (I am not old, but my eyes are.) I think I want to clear a special shelf so I can, over time, fill it with BCN books.
