I think Lupin forgot that they are playing, and embraced the possibility of the Aankh of Power! But it may well upset the festivities upstairs.

Lupin’s turn to embrace the “Yes, and…” principle doesn’t go nearly as well as Goldie’s.

I don’t get the art in between Lupin ans Beatrix in the last panel. I see the ironing board, and a mass of gold fuzz that would indicate a Puck. Where is Sophie?

Today is International Safety Pin Day. Legend has it that Walter Hunt, it’s inventor, patented it on this day, and sold the patent to W.R. Grace & Co. for $400. We have all helped W.R. Grace and successor companies make millions, if not billions or even Sagans, of both pins and profits. Mr. Hunt was not a financial genius.

However, some of us suspect that the safety pin is one of the precursors of wire clothes hangers. The larval form is paper clips. These become the nymph form, safety pins, which later become the adult form, clothes hangers. Research has concluded that these last are, indeed, the adult form, not bicycles as once thought.

The species is generally benign, except in Australia, where they are deadly.

I feel really bad for Puck.

So to summarize: Goldie and Sophie were on the table, not the ironing board, so they should be safely hidden behind the speech bubble. The ankh is up in the air caught within the “smash” and up for grabs. Will it disappear back into the Great Unknown; will it land in the paws of the Existential Dread; or will one of the robber mice, last seen on a high shelf, snatch it out of thin air and hold it for ransom?
