I’m dating myself, but I remember when science fiction wasn’t about somebody that wanted to destroy the world for some lame reason.

I’m sure Henry doesn’t want to be friends with Goat, Rat or Pig. Congratulations Henry, quarantine is for you.

Henry should have loosened up with a couple of stiff cocktails.

Maybe he likes Hitchcock movies. or Fellini, or French New Wave, or any number of things from when movies didn’t suck quite so much.

I wish Pig had mentioned that back in 2011. At least Deadpool poked fun at Green Lantern.

I’m as unsocial as they come, but I love those movies.

I liked “Green Lantern”. It was the epitome of comic book movies, capturing their very essence. Too highbrow for most according to the box office.

Am I the only one who feels dizzy looking at today’s comic? All the vertical lines cant very slightly to the right —it’s kind of dizzying!

Me Baloo the unsocial bear has also quit watching newer movies as they’ve become unbearable.

Come on…Green Lantern was funny!

The only Avengers I like is the 1960’s TV series. The only movies I watch are from the golden age of Hollywood or British classics.

Last movie I saw starred Jimmy Durante. Next?

How bad is if I agree with Henry ? I’m most a Mel Brooks guy and every time I see his movies or the two “Trinity” , the first and the second “Fantozzi” and other classics (both comedies , dramas or noir) from the 50es to the 8oes I have fun . But I’m an old Italian boy .

We had “From Here to Eternity,” “Rear Window,” and “High Noon.” Now we have “Cats.”

Green Lantern is DC Comics, not Marvel, and is not part of the Avengers Universe. Please allow me to crawl back into my nerd hole now, that is all!

This could SO be me…. LOL. I DO like “end of the world disaster movies” though.

I’m with Henry on this one. I have watched some of the Marvel movies and some are better than others. But there are no more original ideas in Hollywood anymore, the true era of cinema classics is dead and gone, sadly.

He’s right. Hollywood is out of ideas. It’s all sequels. They all have the same plot. They’ve replaced writing with CGI.

I would start by asking him which stars he liked. If he says, James Cagney, Spencer Tracy, John Wayne, Paul Newman, Harrison Ford, Chris Evans, then the conversation would go on from there. It would also help zero in on which era to discuss.

Goat, that’s because Henry is based on you.

I don’t entirely agree with Henry, but I’ve seen the opposite too. Some people seem to think that older movies aren’t worth watching, which I think is a mistake. There are some really good old movies out there, some of them even in black & white – Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, The Ten Commandments, The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, and Casablanca are a few that come to mind. All of those are 60s or earlier. Younger people today would call 70s and 80s movies old (they don’t seem so old to me), so we can also mention The Sting, The Great Gatsby, and others.

I enjoyed those comic books and Superman on TV when I was about 8-12 years old. I probably wouldn’t enjoy the movie Sesame Street either.

They just made a digital restoration of La Dolce Vita, which was launched on 01/3/20. Never made it to Denver, and now it’s on Youtube for free. Victim of the virus

So, WHY ARE “Comic Book” movies so popular? Seriously, I’ve NEVER been able to figure that out….

So now he can stay home and watch The Avengers, Spiderman, Star Wars, etc.

GO HENRY!!! Lol, I don’t watch ANY superhero movies either (Marvel OR DC). And Di$ney Star Wars sucks. LOTR? I’d rather read the novels.

We just watched Arabesque last night. Despite Gregory Peck and Sophia Loren, it proved that every generation had its own “Green Lantern.”

Most big budget blockbusters bore me too but I appreciated Dr Strange and Batman Begins for their mysticism and martial arts training-

I know how you feel, Henry. Movies are kind of a bore to me. That’s why I like roasting them.

So, where ARE Mike Nelson, Crow T. Robot, Tom Servo, Gypsy and Cambot when we REALLY need them???

Can I just say that while CGI seemed really cool when it first started out, I feel that the directors and others involved in the film making process now use it in excess and as a way to not have to develop a decent story line. “Hey, lets just throw in some epic, completely computer generated 45 minute battle, and everyone will forget what they were watching!” I find that the complete cgi battle sequences are so boring. I love the older Star Wars… but the new stuff I have fallen asleep during because of those battle sequences. And don’t get me started on The Hobbit. People take perfectly interesting books and turn them into some crazy computer animated drivel and change the storyline completely because they want something that “looks cool.” Sorry- off soap box.

I might have to change my name to,“Henry”!

I’m watching Green Lantern again out of spite! :)

I guess Henry isn’t into Quentin Tarantino or Martin Scorsese; Once upon a time in Hollywood and The Irishman are ones that will keep him a hermit.

I like the current trend in movies, but I can’t understand current music.

I have seen 3 movies in theaters since 1993.

One day a competent production team will make a great Green Lantern movie.

Call me Henrietta. I’m not big on parties either ( after a hour I’m ready to go) and I am not a fan of any of those movies. Only reason I’ve seen any of them is due to my husband.

I grew up on Marvel comics, but the shallow idiocy of the current Marvel universe movies makes me weep for America.

Superhero movies just add an element to thrillers with car chases and explosions. It’s the pre teen boy deveopmental stage market.

Maybe Henry’s wife needs to get some new friends

Maybe I’m in the minority here,but I think it’s sad how being antisocial and unfriendly has become the acceptable thing these days, but being friendly and outgoing is considered inappropriate. Before anyone objects, I must point out two things: I mostly enjoy being by myself, so I am a little on the introverted side. Second, This antisocial: good/sociable: bad thing has been going on before the pandemic, so it has little to do with that. What a messed up world this has become. I’m sorry if I’ve offended anyone, but that’s just the way I feel.

Henry is smarter than the average spouse. I like the way Henry thinks. I don’t think I’ve paid to watch a film since the late ’90s….

It seems to me that Rat should be the one saying that Henry could be his new best friend. I always thought Goat was more social.

Wow, I’m just like Henry. I did just see Ford vs Ferrari and that was a disappointment because of some of the liberties they took with the story. It was very unfair to Ken Miles, they made him look like a jerk.

I hope he skips Green Lantern.
