When you think about it, these comic strips focusing on the current pandemic will serve as a time capsule at some point in the future.

Rats only live 2-3 years, so he may not be around much longer.

Rat is making the most of this excused absence.

It’s mostly for the safety of the rest of the family; Rat won’t be there to beat them all up for annoying him.

Knowing full well there are people who will do just that.

I hope it is for a moment in time..not the apocalypse! !

When you are an anti-vaxxer, you have to take extra precautions.

Sometimes family is like a virus. When they’re around they make you sick.

Social distancing from family can be therapeutic no matter what.

I like rat’s idea of family non-closeness.

I think Rat is just passing along the order from Michigan’s Governor.

Given that the lifespan of a rat is only a couple of years, I don’t see how this is unreasonable.

Rat is ahead of the game.

Someday we will look back man this and have a good laugh.

I’m of the age that there is only my brother and I left. We get along fine.

It’s a bit of a surprise that Rat still has family that’s willing to take his calls!

In this case, the pandemic has nothing to do with the canceling. Rat’s always trying to get out of family reunions, usually giving some excuse his family doesn’t buy.

Given that the virus isn’t going anywhere anytime soon until the vast majority contract it or there’s a vaccine, it’s probably best to cancel everything forever. Chances are it will stick around and mutate in those who act as reservoirs: their immune systems suppress the virus but fail to successfully eliminate it. It’s an RNA virus: it doesn’t have the mirrored copy strand DNA does to help prevent errors, so it’s more prone to mutation.

The odd question is, why was Rat even organizing a family gathering?

After my mom passes (she’s in her 80’s), I don’t plan on seeing anyone in my family again.

Rat is, to tell the truth, quite right. Besides, I don’t really like big family gatherings anyway….

If I cancel family gatherings, I’d have to move out of my Mom’s basement!
