When I was a teacher I showed appreciation for every dandelion brought to me. I think those plants were made by God for children to play with. You can pop the tops, blow the seeds, chain them, “milk” them, eat them and no one minds if you pick them. And they last long enough clutched in a child’s small fist to be put into a glass of water for the day.
Most importantly, dandelions are the first flowers to come up in the Spring, and are the first food flower for bumblebees and bees and honeybees. So are violets, forsythia, hyacinths, tulips and daffodils, but, the Dente De Leon` comes up first.
Well folks. How’s this for a problem? I enter a comment on columbines. It’s not accepted. Went to GoComics ‘help’ site to find out why, entered my question, hit submit and got The specified URL cannot be found. Some help site. It’s happened before to others and no one seems to be able to find out why.
Frazz14 hrs · Winston Churchill famously observed that nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without result. I’ll note that, while less exhilarating, I find it pleasing to have to take his word for it.
I wonder about the kind of person who questions every blessing, as if no gift is enough, nor sufficiently modest to be safe from too-good-to-be-true scrutiny. What happens when they wear down, run out of doubts and discover that they were, indeed, fortunate? Does it feel something like exhilaration?

Flowers are very nice. Community gardens are nicer, IMO.

Remember, Mrs. Olsen played Santa several years ago. There IS a heart in there, deep down…

I sowed some columbine seeds along the ditches and waste grounds by my house ; they do well in poor soils and are now putting on quite a show.

Never thought of dandelions that way. You’ve awakened pleasant memories from 70 years ago. Thanks!

Not so good for the flower which is trying to reproduce. Yes you smell their genitals.
