National Apple Pie. I like apple pie, but I just baked brownies last night so I really don’t need pie right now. It’s been months since I’ve baked brownies and I was craving them.
National Receptionist’s Day
National Fruit Cocktail Day
National Crouton Day
National Third Shift Worker Day. That’s sort of me now, since we no longer have overnight workers. First shift (formerly the overnight shift) work from 4:00 am to 1:00 pm. Then another shift starts at 7:00 am and works until 4:00 pm. I usually work from 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm, but sometimes it’s 100 to 10:00. On Sundays, it’s 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. But this week is weird and I’m pulling the 9:00 – 6:00 today and tomorrow too, so I have to go to bed soon since I have to get up in 7 hours to get ready for work. But first I have to look back at yesterday’s Ten Cats comments.
From yesterday’s comments from bbear “I wonder how many of us had our first exposure to classical music from Bugs Bunny and other Warner Brothers cartoons?”
That WAS my first exposure to classical music and I didn’t hate it when it was on the cartoons. I don’t think I fully realized it was classical music. I remember one where Daffy Duck booby-trapped a piano so when Bugs Bunny hit a certain piano key, it would set off a stick of dynamite. But Bugs kept playing the song wrong, missing the booby-trapped key. Daffy pushed Bugs aside to show the correct way it goes and he set off his own booby trap.
I had new lights put in the front and patio today. ( the 80s called and wanted their lights back). And one had an empty hornets nest in the light box and the other had a live tarantula in it! Steve-The-Handyman was impressed. Life in the Desert!!
And we had high winds today. We put 3 black trash bags filled with styrofoam pieces out for trash pickup today. At 3AM daughter heard a loud bang, opened the door to investigate, just in time to see the trash bags sail down the street and the trash bin tipped over. So there we were in the middle of the night chasing trash all over. Neighbors were blowing too. Finally gave up. This morning there was stuff everywhere! Out 3 bags were in a neighbors side yard and she was picking them up. And there were newspapers all over the Golf Course. Winds are supposed to come back next Sun. mon. tues. too.
Cats can be very faithful. The crazy dog lady who used to live across the street from me with -15 dogs_ until Animal Control came and “rescued” them and the police came and rescued her. Her black cat escaped being “rescued” by climbing up on the roof of the house just in the nick of time. That was last summer. Ever since, that black, flea ridden cat comes back just about every day to patiently wait on the front walk for her to let him/her in. Several neighbors are leaving out food for the cat. He doesn’t look like he’s starving.
My sister lives well inside the city of Columbus Ohio where she works from home processing medical claims for her company. Yesterday she saw a mama deer and a very young fawn in her back yard. Then her neighbor texted her a picture of mama deer giving birth to two fawns in her back yard!
Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched, Chesney. You can never win against the wrath of Lily! On another note, saw a towhee, two rabbits, a robin, and a banana slug while out walking today. I also saw a Stellar’s jay outside.

Also from yesterday’s comments – I hate rap too and I don’t consider it to be music at all.
