I’m a big advocate of hiring out the projects I do not enjoy, like painting, tuck pointing, and even changing the oil. Always said somebody needs those jobs to pay their bills, let them have them.
Hiring others and being hired reminds me of an economics professor explaining our monetary system to young and naive students (and I am paraphrasing)…
We have a big pile of paper with numbers on them that we place value. We then get some of that pile for doing things that are valued by others. We in turn then give some of that paper to others for things we want to have or to be done for us. Goal is to make it to checkout time comfortably with as much of that paper as we can keep for ourselves.
Think about the recently disbursed stimulus checks. In a very rare instance we got some more paper for existing, but we were told not to hoard it but to get out there and redistribute that paper. (Yes, I did my part!)
So, Arlo’s placing a higher value on grilling time was not only altruistic but highly patriotic. Did Janis thank him for making her a better person?
We’ve moved and my wife is working on repotting and raised beds. How many? She bought 7 1/3 cubic yards of garden soil. That’s about 66 wheelbarrow loads.
Janis is answer sounds like it has a hidden meaning.Does, “We’ll repot that geranium on Saturday,” mean the same as, “We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it”?
Good call Arlo! If you can afford to hire someone to do the work do it. When I owned my own home I did just that. It helped out people that needed the work and I could focus on my job. Now as far as that geranium is concerned that should take all of a few minutes and easily done by one person.

Will Janis help or will Janis supervise? Always my first question when my wife comes up with a Royal We project.

Janis, let’s let that be your personal pride and joy, your sense of accomplishment.

I don’t like Geraniums. Too pedestrian.

Why would anyone paint windows? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of having windows?

if it is root-bound it will take quite a while to get it out of the pot and prepare it to replant.
