I know a guy who was struck twice by lightening on different occasions. I was an ear witness to the second. The bolt hit the cord that connected him to the aircraft that he we crewing. I turned around to see him tear off his headset and slam it into the ground.
Most of the electricity must have grounded out somewhere else.
The odds of being hit by lightning in your lifetime are 1 in 300,000 thousand. Golfer Lee Trevino has been struck by lightning 3 times, including once while playing in the 1975 Western Open.
