I’m finally here. I guess nobody noticed that they spelled “Viller” as “Villar” in the first panel on the second row. Also, the date in the middle of the second row is a month ago. That’s easy to slip up on when you prepare the art a month in advance like they do and aren’t paying close attention. There was one other time when the wrong date appeared on a Sunday strip. TCA got it fixed, but GoComics always runs the un-revised versions when there are last-minute changes.
So, I guess Dethany’s fiancé, Guy Wyre, is back at Fastrack doing his night shift security guard duties for the mostly empty building. Maybe he’s just about the only one there these days.
1-PIERCING SCREAM: OOOOOOOH. DON’T STOP! HOWDY DOOGIE: HEY! What was that?
2-SHAGGY: I don’t know but it came from that directon!
3-From the fleabag next doorDETH WARMEDOVER: Oooh. That was nice…
4-…Was it good for you Guy that came with the picture frame I bought.
5-I…I have something to tell you though. I went on a date tonight. With who? That doesn’t matter. It does? All right. Calm down! His name is Dick Tracy. It meant nothing. Who was I thinking of, when we were making love last night?* FINE! IT WAS DICK. ARE YOU SATISFIED NOW???
Theory of the day: Stooge had some gold bricks painted to look like real bricks and built into a wall. Howdy…wannabe Shaggy…loses the flashlights and break out the sledgehammers!
I have been reading the Complete Chester Gould’s Dick Tracy and have and have read the first 28 volumes, and will get the final one in December. Now THOSE are excellent. Dick Locher was okay, not great but he gave us closure on Big Boy and killed off Moon Maid (sadly). I read those (and have read 1-27 twice) and I am grieved by what I see here. I am sorely tempted to just give up. The present series involves a ridiculous character, and Stooge Villar’s grandson? Great grandson, more like and still too young! Shame the series dying out this way.
Howdy and pseudo-Shaggy are two dolts. They have no plan for finding the “treasure” except to spend (waste) countless hours just looking around, and not very carefully, in the old warehouse.
Meanwhile, melancholic Dethany beds down in the Hotel Eisner, an homage to The Spirit, who appeared in a crossover here, and to his creator, Will Eisner, one of the standout Greats of comics history, while thinking of her fiance, Guy….

Searching high and searching low
On the roof and down below
Rumors of a hidden stash
Gold or jewels or maybe cash.
Viller said this was his bank
Riding high until he sank
A secret place? An unknown room?
Stooge won’t talk. He met his doom.
Elsewhere, Dethany’s homesick
Thought this job would wrap up quick
To Tracyville she had to roam
Leave behind her Guy and home.
Gun fire was unexpected
Thoughts of flight she has rejected
Though her heart’s not in this town
She trusts Dick Tracy of renown.

Good morning™, the frustrated and lonely !
Time for those boys to break out the axes and crowbars. If that man is French is it pronounced Ghee ?

Neil not being here has caused me to have to break out the “TM” and the header line. I am spoiled on ‘copy & paste’. ;-)

Just a reminder: Remember the Alamo! Bexar County is the home of San Antonio, Texas.
Geography lesson out.

Bet you an ice cream cone
When this is done you’ll cry and moan
When the news the bank they find
Only held wealth of a different kind
Then on we’ll trod and ahead we’ll go
With empty hands and nothing to show

Awwwww. Dethany is alone in her hotel room at night and thinks about Guy, whom she misses so much. It’s so sweet and intimate to see ♡.

Joe’s drawing of the Hotel Eisner, is a fine tribute to Eisner’s style.

I want to see them hunting diligently around the room, never noticing a big W on the wall behind them.

Hotel Eisner? Oh, right… Michael Eisner was the head of Disney when they made the “Dick Tracy” movie!
