Reminds me of my favorite adult-with-kid game: Hide n seek. Because once the game started, I would simply start reading my book.

Of course my kid didn’t take long to figure it out… but I did get several minutes, maybe even 15…

Opal should tell Earl that he’s ripe enough to be his first musk ox.

I have one-along with 100+ other animal friends from Artesenia Rinconada made by 2 brothers in Uruguay. I have a friend from Uruguay, who screamed with delight the first time she visited my home. She knew the brothers and their work.

I have a little stuffed-animal one from the gift shop at Musk Ox Farm in Palmer, Alaska, part of a research station that was involved in helping bring the musk ox back from extinction in Alaska—they had to start off by importing some from Greenland because there were zero left in the US. The fact that they face danger by putting the adults in a circle with the young at the center made it easy for those with guns to take them all out. So. Sixty or so years ago the researchers started out by placing some on an island with no predators to let the herd grow. They’re domesticating some at the farm, where they sell the exquisitely soft and incredibly warm undercoat, called qiviut, to help make expenses.
