Maybe I’m just too deeply in the partisan mind set, but I absolutely can’t tell the difference between “self-aware old man” and an exact description of the Conservative worldview for the past several decades.

Long term, yes, but it sure looks to me like tolerance has declined in the last few years.

Tolerance is endangered. Fascism is on the rise. Social decay is being accelerated from the highest ranks of “leadership”.
