~ An experience she may not live to recount. If she becomes bereft of life what will be shown ? …Most curious.
I got an email from Teresa Burritt a bit ago. She posted a letter from someone named Shena informing her that Frog Applause will be ending October 10th. I can post it after turnover if anyone is interested.
Ray warned us yesterday that, of late, these stories start out strong, but often fizzle. He or someone else also noted that these villains are making a presence not unlike so-called “super villains” from comic books. One could say the same about the 1960s Batman TV show.
At the end, that is what this strip often feels like. 1960s Batman.
This could be interesting, but I hope it doesn’t get too “super-villain-y”. I’m not judging this story after only three strips, obviously, but I do prefer the more traditional Gouldian-type of villain to showier comic book villains like Mr. Roboto or (possibly) Count Floyd here.
Strong, silent set up. The tone is deadly serious, which is welcome. The Cloaked Chomper has an awful over-bite. Recalls the Jo Nesbo thriller, The Thirst, in which detective Harry Hole goes after a murderer who uses metal teeth to kill and maim. Blood lust seems to be our attacker’s only motive. I don’t think her collar will save her.
Still no dialogue after three days into the new arc, but we can now see that the Mad Scientist (who initially looked so much like the film actor Colin Clive in his Frankenstein rôle) is not doing a “Jack the Ripper” but rather a “Dracula” thing with his artificial and finely-honed fangs gleaming in the nightlight. And my apologies to the young victim, who now may be read as indeed innocent, for suspecting her of unseemly activity….
A sufficiently bizarre new villain for Tracy to track!
Fee Fi Foe Fum ..somebody has the “munchies”. Between “hickeys” he croons a melody “for your precious blood means more to me” until I find my next victim.

Good morning™, escaping murder victims !
They can avoid the unpleasantness of depicting a killing by having the lady get away, just barely.

This guy’s definitely a step up from villains of late. Won’t catch him stealing a belt buckle.

This might wind up being a Scooby-Doo, where the villain seems supernatural, but isn’t.

With short stories and no violence allowed, they can’t really develop a story anymore, so we’re served instant villains like Dr. Teeth here.
