I like that the top says, “Alternative Reality”! Because he could dismiss it all as not a potential real thing! Remember – he died in 1955! That was long before any major kind of Social Media existed!

Wiley has it right. On “social media” Opinions is infinite, Facts is zero, Supporting Evidence is null. Therefore the Entrenched Belief is anything you want it to be

You know that the natives of the “new world” (now known as the Americas) had a really hard time with European illnesses: no built up immunity. Ditto for alcohol. I do wonder if social media is to modern society as alcohol (and illness) was to American natives.

“Alternate Relativity” and infinite Opinions also fit since everyones’ opinion is influenced by their own unique perspectives (would that be called a Rashomon effect?)

Apparently Wiley doesn’t know much about equations. You don’t use two-letter variables.

    Such a wise equation!

I just found alternate is another word for alternative in North American (or was it always?)

When language is anything u want it to be, it can get confusing

    I repeat:

Occam’s Razor: The simplest explanation that adequately describes a phenomenon is most likely to be true.

Murphy’s Blunt Instruments: The most convoluted explanation that involves the most conspirators is most likely to be believed.

I cite as examples: Ancient Aliens and QANON.

Now wait a minute… isn’t this thread being carried on social media?

Is there some form of self-awareness coming into play here?

Why would facts be divided by supporting evidence? Wouldn’t that lead to a division by zero error in many cases?

Unless O is larger than F/SE, F/SE has to be negative. That’s even more scary.

The Internet did NOT make people more gullible, but it did make gullible people a lot easier to find.

That is the news today, print the story and then check the facts, and if they are wrong put a retraction on last page in small print.

Why is it that, in the time of the rise of Artificial Intelligence, Real Intelligence is getting so muddled in social media. It’s like stupid is having a party and everyone wants to get into the action. Oh yeah. …elections.

Great Netflix movie/semi-documentary on this topic is The Social Dilemma, which paints a very frightening picture of the way AI is already ruining life and driving wedges between people, all in the name of profit.

If F > 0 and SE > 0, the entrenched beliefs need to be imaginary for the math to work. That sounds right.
