I live near Pine Tree Apple Orchard, but for some reason I never see pineapples there. And with Covid, they’ve stopped the weekend hayrides and bluegrass music. Next year….

A fellow decided he wanted to raise chickens. He bought a bunch of biddies, tilled the soil thoroughly, planted them six inches deep. But no chickens grew.

“Maybe I planted them too deep.”

Bought another batch, planted them with their heads above the soil. They lived a couple of days but then THAT crop failed.

“I’m doing something wrong. Better ask the experts.”

He wrote Auburn University’s Agricultural Department, detailing his efforts and asking what he should have done differently.

The experts quickly responded, “Dummy!! We can’t tell anything without a soil sample.”
