They just found out.

Yeah so we’re TOTALLY not in love guys, not at all.

I used to read Ann Landers’ column as a teen while going through similar angst. I still remember her description of what “love” is: “Love is friendship that has caught fire”. I read that 50 years ago and still remember it.

I think you just answered your own question. There are people who have been married for many years that wish they had that kind of relationship.

Well Gord, according to the ancient Greeks there are three forms of love. The first two you likely already know about. Number 1, Agape, the highest love, is the love of God, and the love for a mother and father and motherly love of her baby. Number 2, is Philia, brotherly love, sisterly love, and the love of friends. Which you have here. Number 3, is Eros, physical love, such as what happens when you are older and get engaged to be married. You’ll find that out when you grow up.

Who did Gordon finally marry when he grew up?

Yep. It’s good to be best friends and be able to laugh together. It’s a long day between breakfast and bedtime,

They have just discovered what love is really all about. It is how the other person makes you feel about yourself.

Yes it is correct friendship is a part of the “love” bit. I think the longest lasting & best.

Once, there was a guy in my office and we were just friends. I was just about to fix him up with my sister when I realized I wanted him myself. We’ve been married 60 years…

One of these days the switch will flip and they will know. Unfortunately, it will probably be when they are married to someone else.

Better to find out when you are young that Adulthood is nothing but a series of compromises and bitter disappointment!

Being married to my best friend for 37 years and counting, I love the last panel. They will figure it out, one way or another.

What they don’t know is that true love starts with friendship and the enjoyment of each others’ company. So . .. .they’re learning, though :-)

And there goes the crowning irony.

And they can’t see the forest for the trees.

This makes me so sad that I feel like crying. I married my best friend and thought it was forever but after 23 years of marriage he walked out on me end of March of this year and we are now going through a nasty divorce that he started. I am so happy for all the ones who have been married to their best friend for so many years and wish I was still like you all.
