“The members of the Electoral College will gather in their respective states on Monday to cast their official ballots for president.”
“Congress officially counts the votes in a joint session held in the House chamber on Jan. 6, with Mr. Pence presiding.”
“There is no debate permitted during the counting of the electoral votes. But after the result is read, members of Congress get one opportunity to lodge their concerns.”
"Any objection to a state’s results must be made in writing and be signed by at least one senator and one member of the House. The two chambers would then separate to debate the objection. “
”For an objection to stand, it must pass both houses of Congress by a simple majority."
Considering that we still have to make it through January 6th, what if that becomes an omen for 2021? What if by the middle of next year we are reminiscing about the good ol’ days of 2020? What if the Fat Orange Clown has a new grift that his GULLibles continue to give money to perpetuate? What if….
Personally, I suspect that Georgia’s cancel culture (voting locations, voting while black, last minute voter purges, etc.) will keep the Senate in GOP hands…
But the GOP still says the quiet parts out loud….

Newt Gingrich is upset because Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State is putting more ballot drop boxes out for voters.
Gingrich tweeted:
Why is Georgia Secretary of State Raffensperger working so hard to add drop boxes and take other steps to make it harder for Republicans to win. Is he really that intimidated by Stacey Abrams?— Newt Gingrich (@newtgingrich) December 13, 2020
Gingrich tweeted the quiet part that Republicans aren’t supposed to say. The former Speaker of the House admitted that when more people vote, Republicans can’t win, so the endgame for the GOP isn’t about appealing to as many voters as possible, but trying keep as many voters as possible from voting in elections.
Newt Gingrich is all in a tizzy, because 1.2 million Georgians have requested ballots to vote by mail in the Senate runoff elections, which means that Republicans may find themselves in the same situation as last month when Biden beat Trump. The GOP may have to rely on an early voting/election day turnout surge to make up what could be a massive Democratic mail in ballot edge.
Russian government hackers breached the Treasury and Commerce departments, along with other U.S. government agencies, as part of a global espionage campaign that stretches back months, according to people familiar with the matter.
Officials were scrambling over the weekend to assess the nature and extent of the intrusions and implement effective countermeasures, but initial signs suggested the breach was long-running and significant, the people familiar with the matter said.
The Russian hackers, known by the nicknames APT29 or Cozy Bear, are part of that nation’s foreign intelligence service, the SVR, and they breached email systems in some cases, said the people familiar with the intrusions, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter. The same Russian group hacked the State Department and the White House email servers during the Obama administration.
The FBI is investigating the campaign, which may have begun as early as spring, and had no comment Sunday. The victims have included government, consulting, technology, telecom, and oil and gas companies in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, according to FireEye, a cyber firm that itself was breached.
All of the organizations were breached through the update server of a network management system made by the firm SolarWinds, FireEye said in a blog post Sunday.
SolarWinds said Sunday in a statement that monitoring products it released in March and June of this year may have been surreptitiously weaponized in a “highly-sophisticated, targeted . . . attack by a nation state.”

Michigan legislature closes offices due to ‘credible threats of violence’ ahead of Electoral College meeting
Ahead of Monday’s meeting of Michigan’s 16 electors at the state Capitol in Lansing, officials announced the state legislature’s office buildings will be closed due to “credible threats of violence.”
The decision to close the state House and Senate offices — while the presidential electors convene in the Senate chamber to cast their votes for President-elect Joe Biden, who carried the state by more than 154,000 votes — came from a recommendation from law enforcement, officials said.
But the decision was not motivated by anticipated protests outside the capitol, according to a statement from Amber McCann, a spokesperson for Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey.
“The Senate has closed its own workspaces tomorrow based upon recommendations from law enforcement. The decision was not made because of anticipated protests, but was made based on credible threats of violence,” McCann said late Sunday night, without adding any details about the threats.
“Senate leadership does not have the authority to close the Capitol. That decision is made by the Capitol Commission,” she continued.
A spokesperson for Lee Chatfield, Speaker of the Michigan House, confirmed that the closures apply to the lower chamber as well.
Amid the “safety concerns,” state lawmakers will be working remotely on Monday, a Democratic member of the House tweeted.
From the frying pan.. into the fire. 2021 will start as bad as 2020 ever was and will get worse fast. We will see the COVID effects of the Thanksgiving gatherings at the morgue in Early Jan.. followed by the Christmas shoppers.. New Year celebrations by Feb. Then trump fading quietly ain’t gonna happen either. There will be much angst over the vaccination.. We will look back on 2020 and think.. that wasn’t “all” that bad!
There’ll be a lot of disappointed people out there. They’re equating the bad stuff with the year. The year will go and it’ll be 2021. But the bad stuff will still be here.
WASHINGTON, Dec 14 (Reuters) – President Donald Trump said on Monday that Attorney General William Barr will be leaving his job just before Christmas and Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen will become acting attorney general.Barr, in a letter to Trump posted by the Republican president on Twitter, said he would leave his post on Dec. 23.
