Nice to know that Sam’s been doing some investigation since we last saw him. Although the commune has had “no prior arrests,” it sounds like Sam did find something interesting in his digging. I can’t wait to hear what’s in that file folder. (This one is definitely a file folder and not a newspaper or anything like that.)
Who knew that this whole time, we’ve been reading a crossover guest starring This Old House? Before Halloween it was MeTV and now it’s PBS!
But seriously, I’m curious to see how much of Sam’s research is fiction vs. the factual details a few of our eagle-eyed sleuths posted here at the start of the story…
But will history get you any closer to gaining admittance ? An aerial drone would come in handy right about now. Aquarius will go back out for whatever reason now that he feels safe, with Ty well “preserved” in the “cooler”; just hope he doesn’t get 30 days.
1-SAM: Here Dick, do the Captain’s taxes instead of mine.
2-DT: Hmmm, detailed lists of bribes, payoffs and materials from burglaries. And NO expenses!. Did the Captain give you this, Sam?
SAM: Nah. I found it hidden in his office when I was lookin’ for his bottle of Scotch.
DT: Well, the Cap is sure going to have a big under-withholding penalty! And I don’t even know how to value these “Services From Barry The Pimp’s Girls”…
While I referred to Auntie Bellum as a flower child…what if she turns out to be what is called “a trust fund baby”. I have seen some in my home town, dressed like bums. I was told their parents have money and all the creature comforts…but the children turned their backs on this lifestyle. Possibly Auntie Bellum’s parents left her the house.
“So it turns out our suspects haven’t done any crimes! But I’ve got a bunch of reasons why we should hassle them anyway.”
And we’re back to the one pet pieve I have about this story: It appears to be as much about the house as it is anybody who has been in the strip for the last few weeks. Heck, even as much as anybody who may be living in the house!
Since we all know where this house is and (I think) who owns it, was this cleared with anybody? Are we starting another Amityville house problem?
Honestly, those posts by Neil Wick and others, when the house first made its appearance in the strip, gave me the impression that everyone involved with the house would love to forget its days as the Timothy Leary commune.
Either this was the owners idea, or their noses are getting seriously rubbed in a history that they would much rather forget.
I guess I’d appreciate the history of the Bedwell Commune as an item of local interest. But, Sam, is this relevant to the current investigation? If so, why take the long way around in saying so?
Meanwhile… Tiger Lilly is wilting in the root cellar. Pouch, old chap, your boy needs you!
