I like the arrow pointing to the camera and the fact that Tracy is examining the crime scene like he should do more often. We saw a dollar bill fluttering to the ground when Bill got his neck snapped. It’s interesting that Bill’s headband with his trademark dollar bill could have fallen to the ground here in the forest. Anyway, it’s the confirmation Tracy needed, since he couldn’t make a positive ID from the cam picture.
“I’ll be egg rolls is a new expression to me. I think I’ve heard something about “dollars to donuts,” but I don’t know the origin of that one either.
It has come to my attention that poster Charlie Farmer has been surreptitiously banned from talking on these pages for what appears to be no apparent reason as he is not one to make the kind of talk worth being shut out for. I am mounting a write in campaign for his release from the Phantom Zone.
If you wish to help send your letters to: moderator@gocomics.com As always, be congenial. I believe Charlie’s dropout to have been done in error.
My letter to the company:
Good day, sir or madam. I hope winter isn’t too harsh to you as it has been here with minus zero temps but at least we have not had power outages.
I am writing you today concerning co poster, Charlie Farmer. He has informed me through emails that he has been blocked from the Comments groups at your institution. I am perplexed at this action as I have never known Charlie to make derogatory remarks to the other posters or to post off color material. He says he has sent two notes to you in the past two weeks or so but has not gotten a response. Regardless, it is my fervent hope that Mr. Farmer can be restored to the ranks of the living, to the groups he participates in before he whittles away to nothing from the deafening silence he is forced to endure as a result of having been banished to the Phantom Zone district of Gocomics. “Praise the company !” Thank you, Mr. Gordon Heavern.
I like our getting to see Tracy actually investigate the crime! This story is really a lot better than any of those ‘8-week-long minute-miseries’ like Shaky 2.0. (Also really like the art in panel 1.)
I like our getting to see Tracy investigate the crime. Also, really like the art in panel 1. It’s so much better without the 8 week time limit on stories.
Same issue I voiced yesterday, the camera appears to be pointed directly at the river – so how in the heck did it record Tiger in profile carrying Bill down the slope? Victorian gentlemen detectives want to know.
Did they find TWO bodies wearing the same clothes seen in the video? Does it matter WHICH dead body he is throwing in the river? Is Dick just going to pick that evidence up without taking photos?
I just kind of assumed that, as a high-ranking detective in the Major Crimes Unit, Dick Tracy was, if not living on easy street, then at least financially comfortable. But today we learn that he’s so short of cash that he’s been reduced to using leftover Chinese food for gambling purposes, and thinks a single dollar bill represents “pay dirt.” Truly sad that those snitches in Internal Affairs say you’re not allowed to put stuff from the evidence locker up for auction on the dark web anymore!
I hope Neil does some deep research on that “eggroll” and “dollars to donuts” commentary. He’s made it his job to inform. BTW, this lack of 8 weeks limit would be a lot better if the story was better and not so meandering.
“These breaks are recent”. By George it’s obvious that in his haste to dispose of the client he did the chiropractic technique on Tiger Lily trampled on some vegetation.
I believe I found the make and model of trail cam used in the story:
https://www.rexingusa.com/products/rexing-h1/
This model requires the user to physically retrieve an SD memory card that contains the images. The H2 model has wifi capability. The terrain and or distance must make the wifi option a moot point or else I would assume Tellum would have opted for the highest-end model?
This may (?) help explain the proximity of crime scene to Tellum house. Ted would likely have to have close and easy access to retrieve the SD card.
Tracy’s eye spies the cap and dollar bill of “Dollar Bill” Dolan. That clinches Tiger Lilly’s part in the murder. Just a little more pressure on Pouch is needed now, plus a big showdown at The 1312 and its root cellar. All the pins will fall when Tracy strikes….
Is Tracy’s right thumb bigger than any of his fingers, or am I just looking at it wrong? The tip of my own thumb is just short of the level of the knuckle joint of my index finger.

“Pay Dirt” appropriately said to a song playing in the background. " I need a dollar, a dollar is all I need, I need a dollar…"
