Bern she okay it’s amazing that Tara is alive

Awww. Bernice should move up a couple of notched in Tara’s pantheon of friends. This could be the start of a beautiful relationship.

Well, at least we got all our colors squared away. 8^ )

We’ve recapped our events half-way through the week. At this rate I think the police and EMS won;t arrive till next week.

Nothing broken? I don’t know how I feel about that…

Bernice gone into shock?

I personally think Bernice needs an oxygen tank to help her with the hyperventilating after all what has happened.

So, Tara probably rolled off the side of the bonnet – most probable outcome since the car was so close when it started accelerating. If she had gone under the bumper bar – then a different story. I believe quite a few people thought the distance was fairly close and should be survivable…

Is Bernice experiencing PTSD ?

Glad that Tara is okay. But Bernice is a drama queen.

C’mon Bernice – there’s no crying in baseball. She got hit instead of getting a hit. Looks like she’s OK except for a scraped knee.

I get the feeling that Bernice is doing something surreptitious that involves ratting out Luann and Tara.

Keep Tara on the ground until she is cheçked out by professionals, and maybe get Bern a blanket…

Is it possible that this is all part of the plan and Tara and the cousin planned this exactly as it’s happening? All planned from the story about needing a place to stay, to leaving the door unlocked, to the chasing away a burglar with fake karate, to being “hit” by the car?

You know the drawing here is to show the amazing escape by Tara, the real concern and care by Luann, and the emotion and grief by Bernice, all with a subtle undertone is humor in a dark situation. IDK maybe trolling for the sake of trolling is how some here roll but it’s not rock and roll. Has no zing, no swing, it’s a shame in the game.

Is it just me or did Tara lay silently in the street an AWFUL LONG TIME for someone that just scraped their knee and didn’t even break any bones??? I feel tricked! LOL I hope the authorities catch Stella and she goes back to prison. She is a MENACE!

If Bernice can’t handle this (she can’t handle a lot of things actually), she should reconsider trying to get a psychology degree. Oh no, some jeans got damaged! Cartoon physics at work, I suppose.

Tara just got hit by a car and she’s still conscious and and able to sit up.

By contrast, Brad had to spend a couple of week’s in the hospital with broken bones after saving Toni.

Any doubts that the toughest characters in this Strip are all female? ;)

She really shouldn’t be moving… A trip to the emergency room wouldn’t hurt. Maybe a few x-rays just to be sure.

No, she is not okay. A headache after getting knocked around needs immediate medical attention. Concussion can be very insidious. My brother suffered an “inconsequential” knock on the head and it disastrously altered his personality and his reasoning capacity with brain damage that was only diagnosed decades later but which ruined his life. Never, ever ignore a blow to the head sufficient to cause a headache! Please!

I think she should be getting checked out by a doctor.

Reviewing: On 2/23 the writers introduce some tension with “BUMP”. On 2/24 things things lighten up: It’s just Bernice. On 2/27, we see a shadowy figure by the door. From there, the tension builds towards a peak on Saturday, 3/6, with Tara on the pavement and Stella speeding away, and it remains high on 3/8. On 3/9, we get some relief: Tara is alive and conscious. Now, things lighten up a little more: She’s sitting up, has no apparent amnesia, and her speech bubble doesn’t even have the wispy tail it had on 3/9.

So now what? I’ll go out on a limb and predict that the writers ramp the tension back up a little, but not so much that we’ll go bonkers if they switch to a different arc next Monday or the Monday after. (Of course, that’s excluding those of us who like to go bonkers no matter what the writers do.)

Probably should get that checked out. Could have some long term effects that should be diagnosed to possibly prevent any future complications early on.

Considering Tara’s checkered past, I wonder if some skill she picked up saved her.

She’s alive!!

Is this where Bernice turns around and reveals herself to be a member of that race of reptilians we hear about from time to time?

That’s a relief.

Luann did NOT know Stella was Tara’s cousin until just Now. So they were not listening to the conversation and would not have been able to ID the hit and run driver.

An ambulance is on the way and they will at least check Tara’s vitals even if she refuses treatment. The EMT crew may also check out Bernice and find she is in shock and transport her.

Funny line by Luann. That’s comic relief, British-style.

Bernice is transforming under the full moon.

Hurray!!! for the good side!!! Ms. Autopilot needs to really take a reality pill every now and then which wouldn’t hurt. I’m sure hearing Tara’s voice would calm her very upset seas. She may need the medical help for being in shock or something…Luann is the hero here, ready to help despite her fears of what ’Could’ve" happened.

Bern’s blaming herself for all her snap judgements, which is how they all got here. She’s deluded.

Let the doctors decide if you’re all right after a car hits you as shown in the strip. Tara should be in too much pain at the moment, even if only from bruises, to even be noticing Bern.

“What’s wrong with Bernice?” “Well I’m glad you asked. Unfortunately we don’t have anywhere close to enough room… this is only a three panel comic…”

Tara looks fine, she just has a few bruises on her leg. But it’s best to say this after a medical checkup. Luann was too far away to hear her conversation with her cousin, so if Tara had been down, they would never know who the aggressor was. I think Bernice is really sweet to mourning over Tara’s death. Just a few hours before she hated her and now she’s desperate for her sake♡♡♡. Could this be the real beginning of a beautiful friendship?

Another day, another strip showing Bernice as a total basket-case..

Since when did LuAnn become a doctor? How do we know there are no internal injuries? Or a concussion, or compartment compression? is medical still on it’s way? Did anyone get 911 on the line? ugh.

Bernice had the wherewithal to call 911. But now she seems to be having some sort of nervous breakdown.

So relieved Tara is ok. That whole scenario was pretty scary.

Bernice might be just realizing how much trouble they’re all in since the cops and the ambulance are on their way.

Too much intense speculation. We have two quick wrap ups for this event: It is either an elaborate con job, or in her anguish and relief, Bernice realizes that she really has the hots for the boyish Tara, and a new lesbian couple is introduced into the strip.

Oh, good. For a moment I thought she was going to turn into a werewolf.

It’s what I get for waiting ten hours to jump in. My first impression of “(Bernice) is the real victim here” was not unlike experiences in my real life – where, often, those “left behind” or otherwise less affected by a tragic event end up feeling both remorse and guilt that the bad thing happened to someone else.

What I think I see happening here is that we see Bernice cares.

Okay. I get it. Bernice doesn’t show it well. But she cares.

And the stage is now set for Bernice and Tara to become quite possibly “best friends” – along with repair to Luann and Bernice’s relationship.

I suppose this will disappoint many, but today, I don’t really see anything to complain about.

“Tried” to run her down??

I predict Bernice is about to have a (long overdo) nervous breakdown. Bernice is the ultimate control freak and here is a situation that she obviously can’t control. Welcome to the real world kid.

I really miss the humor in this comic strip. Is it me or has it become more of a soap opera of late? (save for the occasional little brat Shannon bomb for comic relief). It was hilarious so many years ago, when Luann used to google over Aaron Hill. It’s been great seeing the gang grow up, and become young adults, facing many of the same things we did at that age. But one thing we never forgot to do, is to smile and laugh, even at the goofy things (classic Luann and Bernice sitting on the bed contemplating the times). Let’s hope Tara is okay (it appears she is), maybe this is the dawn of a new scheme to rival scammer Ann Eiffel’s literally being thrown out onto her posterior out of Tiffany’s (and her father’s) hair! Let us hope that creativity will reign, and there are more smiles to come.

My two cents on Bernice…she is a rule follower so things out of the ordinary and chaotic tend to stress her out and give her anxiety. This isn’t so much a character flaw as it is just a personality trait. So let’s all give her a little bit of grace here. I think it speaks to her character more that she is upset a frenemy/rival just got hurt…someone she knows very little about but she is still this upset. If I were Tara, I would be touched to know she cares that much about me.

Still get the police over to document that scraped knee and all. Luann will have some ‘splaining to do about letting her stay at the Fuse, but I think everyone will understand given how obviously unhinged this cousin is — and the police report will help file the appropriate charges. Even if she didn’t get badly hurt, that’s still at least assault with a deadly weapon and possibly even attempted murder since you could reasonably expect to kill someone that way. And it was while in commission of another crime (theft), following a history of terroristic threats, and if the cousin took enough money, it could go into felony territory. She could be going to prison for a long time.

I can’t believe Tara’s not even injured. Only in the comic strip world.

There’s an old, old saying: “God protects children and drunks.” Which way does Tara fall in this?

some people do not handle violence or emergency situations well. can’t say why, some people freeze, some people act. More than once my body has responded to something before my mind could say ‘this is really dangerous’ when someone has needed help. Bern just isn’t one of these. it’s not shame on her though she will act like it is.

Thank God she’s OK.

I think it is way more than mourning her death. First, Bernice prides herself in always being the practical, calm one. She just recognized she has the capacity to panic, and she must not like that. Also, she must be SO MAD at Luann for putting everyone in this situation. If Luann had just been honest instead of sneaking her friend into the Fuse and putting everyone in jeopardy of liability, then this conundrum of what to tell the parents would not be upcoming, or indeed any of this trauma. So, she is dealing both with being super pissed at her friend mixed with having just made up – conflicting emotions abound.

Also, I like Bernice. I think she is the most relatable character in all this strip.

How do we know it was Tara’s cousin? She was wearing a mask-and not that kind of mask.

So Luann did not hear Tara call out, “Stella”. Hmmm. Tara needs a medic, but Bernice may be in shock and need help, too. :-/

It appeared that Bernice had shake lines around her, like she was crying hard, but no worries, it was the brick lines.

I wonder if Bernice is about to have an epiphany here? Tara should still go to be checked out since not all injuries are apparent to the victim during or immediately after the event.

Maybe so, Luann… But Bernice is not okay. Not at all.

The question is, what isn’t wrong with Tara’s cousin?

So Tara realizes how much Bernice cares for her and she will have a newfound affinity for her and then Luan will ask Tara to come live with them and they be like three sisters and live happily ever after

Bernice doesn’t handle stress very well. She’ll make a fine councilor….not.

Staid Bern has been on a roller coaster of emotions— affection for Monstro, l×st for Jack, bonding with brother, and now grief at supposed death to frenemy. She’s growing.

How quickly the tables turn! Now, Tara is okay and worried about Bernie, who looks dead on her feet. Luann has perhaps found her niche, as a Narrator of the Obvious….

Go to the Hospital for x-rays anyway.

I once knew a guy who walked around for two weeks with a broken arm.

He thought it was “just a little bit sore”. Until he tried to pick up a 50 pound Toolbox.

“Don’t worry nothings broken. On an unrelated note, is my foot supposed to bend that way?”

BIG SIGH OF RELIEF This comic has seen enough tragedies. I’d have hated to see something bad happen to Tara, like she was comatose or paraplegic or something.
