I see we’re getting somewhere… wherever “somewhere” is.

Bets must have a really good job if she can afford to blow 300 on a dinner.

Plus if she wants an “exceptionally exclusive experience” with Gunth, I have a suggestion that doesn’t cost anything and is probably better than any dinner.

Nice to see Tiffany’s getting back on track with school. She was so excited to become a business major and then crashed kinda hard, but she seems to be diligent about it again. Funny how life changes drastically when you get an Eiffel-ectomy.

She has no cook, she has no fresh vegetables (I suspect they are between seasons and there’s no reason for Dez to share what she has. Does she have any idea what makes for an exquisite meal? And since Bets and Gunther are under 21 she can’t serve them wine. Finally $300 for a fine dinner for two is exorbitant.

I seem to remember a couple of doubters a couple days ago about Bets and Gunther.

And there were doubters yesterday about whether Bets was in with this or not (thinking the “with Gun” thing was some kind of put down).

Well, it looks like they were wrong on both counts.

Bets likes “Tiffany’s for two.”

And I really like that Bets is still with Gun.

$300.00 – cheap investment – Bets is an excellent marketing strategist.

Restaurant, Schmestaurant. Tiff, if all Bets wants is an “exceptionally exclusive experience” with Gunther, just let them have one of the guest rooms and the sauna for the night. Provide some strawberries and a can of whipped dessert topping. They will never miss the dinner element.

What Bets is asking for is simple, “room service.”

Bets is quite the find for Gunther to be willing to pay for an “exceptionally exclusive experience”. And good for him….after being shunned by all the other girls all these years. Finally, he has found love.

I could see wanting to pay $300 for an “Exceptionally Exclusive Experience” with Bets…..but with Gunther?!? Tiffany could already be raking in a fortune if she just rented out rooms in her GINORMOUS home to people. It’s a no-brainer!

$300 for dinner for two?? Not counting alcohol, I once paid $180. What’s your most expensive dinner? (Specify if drinks are included.)

$300? Count me out. I rather grow my own food in my own garden and make meals myself. Except I have a black thumb. Maybe Tiffany will consider adding a menu for paupers with simple dishes with minimal waitstaff interaction? Near the door? With these rickety chairs and tables? I’ll take it.

This is a disaster, unless Bets wants a special dinner to tell Gunther that she is pregnant.

Hire TJ for $100, Ox to serve for $50 and pocket the rest…

Ah.

The hook has baited and lowered into the “water.”

And the “bait” has been taken.

All that left is to reel the “fish” up on the deck.

What’s interesting is that it’s Bets is that’s encouraging Tiffany to go into business.

Especially after all that “huffing and puffing” Tiff did a couple of years ago about wanting to be a tycoon. Or even last Fall when Tiff was Jazzed about the possibility of selling home grown veggies while “non helping” Dez in the garden. She was all excited. Then nothing.

But now that’s changed. Bets just said the magic word: “Money.” And now they are potentially off to see the Wizard.

Not saying that this is the equivalent of Jobs and Wozniak whipping up Apple I in the garage. But it could be a start.

Bets has the business sense and Tiffany got (some) connections.

And soon, Tiff is going to get tired of working at the Fuse for peanuts, especially now that Ann Eiffel is out of the picture, when she could be making big money on her own. ;)

Does Bets have a job? She apparently has lots of spending money. I’ve spent $200 but not $300 on dinner for two.

300 is a lot but consider inflation pricing, plus I would not be surprised if Bets has access to that amount of money. These Botique concepts are all the flrage wit Millennials and Gen Zoomers

Since when is Tiffany a realist? Of course $300, does seem to make forget reality.

Middle panel might be revealing Tiff having gotten past airheadedness.

Not sure what the licensing would be, but Tiff could set up a high end b&b in one wing of her house. Nails by Tiff could be one part. Fine dining and an overnight could complete it. Wonder if Dez gives massages?

Wow. Where’d Bets, who’s not loaded with money, get $300 for a single evening staycation of currently unplanned and inexperienced local town event hopping?

Ha! $300 means my price point call for yesterday was almost spot on. That means Tiffany will have a margin of $60 for the evening, sort of worth it for a college student.

So now we learn that Bets has money. Wonder how receptive Gunth would be to her paying for dinner at any price. After all he is a gentleman.

Bets has something rare in the comic strip world, teeth and she doesn’t mind showing them.

And the inventory of “I’ve Got Money” characters continues. Interesting that we go from homeless broke waif sleeping on a storeroom floor to affluent snootie spending $300 for some privacy (which is free by the way). But one thing remains the same…the characters whether rich or poor continue to be ridiculous, irresponsible, unrealistic, entitled and self-absorbed. I like the way they make it appear that creating an eatery business operating out of a private residence can just magically happen. The writer for this comic is so out of touch with reality it really is amazing.

I’m still trying to start my animation studio, but a lot of stuff is holding me back right now.

GO BET! She’s encouraging Tiffany to try ♡! With her help (and, why not, Al Gray’s advices) she could start a great business! Can’t wait to see her father’s reaction. Tom will be speechless!

Good to see Tiffany learning and grasping that businesses have GOT to deal other issues (permits, insurance, taxes, etc.) …

And then there is CASH !! … :)

A few years back, hubby and I did something like this on the beach while on vacation in Mexico. I think it was about $150 (including tip) and was worth every penny. Would probably be about $300 here in the US (excluding tip). I would gladly do it again.

Lol! That’s great! Tiff’s aware of all the hoops and red tape, but flash big bucks and she’s in., :-D. Now to contact the “chef” and create a menu. I’m sure the dining room has all the linens, candles and silverware necessary for the trial run. This should be fun, unless there’s a snag. Always is. ;-)

TJ’s been dying to cook in Tiffany’s kitchen!!! The Tiffany-TJ-Dez connection was set in play a while back. I’m sure Tiffany’s had her share of exquisite meals in upscale restaurants. And great businesses often start in homes!!!

Exclusive experience sounds great.

This arc is all talk and no action! Seriously, I think these two are just having fun doing this as an assignment. Doing a pop up restaurant is very complex and time consuming and neither of these college students are capable of making it happen. It would be fun to see Gunther and TJ working in the kitchen together while Tiffany and Bets take care of the customers. Dez could provide seasonal veggies. But where? The Fuse? Or Tiff’a house while Dad is away? That might be interesting!!!

I don’t understand all the negative talk. Bets is lifting Tiff’s spirits and injecting some much needed self confidence. Tiff is not as dumb as she thinks she is currently. Remember all the crafty stuff she pulled in High School. With proper direction, drive, and friends, she can get that self confidence back. As for the logistics. They must have some sort of pool house for that mansion. That’s a great place to set up the exclusive encounter. Second, you do have TJ to help with the cooking. You already have Ox or Les who knows how to do the service. She must have some dusty china, silverware, glassware, and table cloths there at the house. This would be a great little project for her to organize and set up.

Even if it’s only school project for some close friends and family. Say Bets and Gunther, Brad and Toni, Frank and Nancy, and The Greys. In the end, she puts in the effort, gives it a try, writes a killer paper talking about her experiences. Perhaps with that extra work, she can fold it into more than just her marketing class.

The price is too much, but the idea is doable. A daughter of The Tightwad Gazette writer got a romantic, candle-lit dinner for two with her fiance, cooked, catered, and served by her sisters.

Instead of picking the strip apart. Lets see how it pans out
